Polarized Lens Color

Featured Replies

Hey guys, what polarized lens color do you like for sight fishing???

I like an amber lense for everything from fishing to driving.

X2  :)

X3, I use amber lenses as well. Yet, I read an article recently that said green lenses were best for sight fishing. But I don't sight fish.

Ive only had one pair of polarized Oakley's and they have gray/black lense.  I used them for sight fishing today actually and they really helped me.  I can't say they are better than the amber color but they work for me.

Mine are prescription, lightly tinted brown. Polarized and I can see very well with them in the water.

I don't just site fish for spawners. I site fish in the shallows almost 10 months out of the year. I use several colors depending on the amount of light. But the best all around site fishing color is Moss Back Green by Solar Bat. I have been using them for three years. And they are awesome. I have let a few of my fishing partners wear them and they wouldn't give them back. I was stuck wearing their Costa-del-mars and some other expensive pair.

Amber is great and I used to wear them in low light conditions but I found some yellow ones that are awesome on cloudy days and in the morning.

I have grey lenses in mine. Work great for me.

I wear sort of a yellow tinted pair. They work well for me though!  :)

I would like to date an Amber......wonder what my wife would have to say about that?

I read that Amber is the prefered color for sight fishing in an issue of Gary Yamamoto's Inside Line last year.  So I bought a pair and look forward to trying them out!

Mounting a ladder on your front deck would also aid in sight fishing as well!

I figured I could do without that considering i'm 6'6-6'7.

Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it.

I used to like the amber color and it's still good depending on the water conditions, but I gotta tell ya if you haven't tried the mossback green by solar bat, you are missing out.  I bought and store an extra set in the boat just incase I forget them or loose them.  Nice thing is you can get them priscription as well if you need.

I have two pair of polarized Oakley Monster Dogs...one amber, and one black/w purple mirrored lenses. Amber for dark days...black/purple for sunny days.
