Lake Habeeb, Rocky Gap State Park

Any thoughts on this lake?

A buddy of mine apparently just drove by it and said it looked like it had potential.  In a brief research on the lake, MD DNR claims that 10lb fish have come out of it.

What do you guys think?

I fished there a couple years ago, spawn time. I was impressed by the number of big fish 4-8 Lbers (my guess). It is hard to fish, very clear and alot of weeds, and deep water. We did catch some, not the big ones. The bottom end around the resort and dam area seemed the best.

I fish it all the time including the open tournaments they have there. It is very deep, usually clear, lots of weeds but has some nice fish in it. Depending on the area you catch both SM and LM.

You want to hit it up sometime?

With the clear water and the 24/7 access, I was thinking of making it a night trip.

I have an open tournament there Saturday starting at 4:30 or 5:30pm? The tournament is open to anyone who wants to fish $40 per tournament, per team.

I can invite you fishing anytime there is not a tournament but I finally found a reliable partner.

I'll shoot you a message sometime when I am heading down there.

None of my PA fishing buddies have a MD license, so I will have an opening on my boat.  I think you and Basser89 are the closest to me.  Maybe we could get something worked out.

As far as the tournaments go, maybe I could help you during one of the off weeks.  I have a Humminbird Side Imaging unit on the boat that might help you find some stuff you may not know was there.

I fish during the week usually on Wednesday evenings and one day every weekend. Besides the tournaments it is hard to find someone that wants to go out. I know just about all the areas around here and what fish are where. The muskie are always in the same places as are the bass most of the time. The evening topwater bite can be great on the river but the size of LM I catch from a local lake keeps me off it a lot.

I'll be in touch.

I was actually thinking of coming down on Saturday evening, but got an offer to work a gun drawing for Gander Mountain (my part-time job).

Maybe Sunday, not sure yet.

Did I hear you say "musky?"   :P  That got me listening.
