thanks. caught it around 5:30pm dragging a tube across the bottom. tried everything else for over an hour without any luck before catching this badboy. water temp was 49*.

What color was the tube? Where did you catch it? Was it going toward the left of the boat ramp? What other ponds have you tried?

Nice Job!!. What a great way to start the season. :)

it was a 5" yum tube, smoke with red flake. you can get them in the bargin bin at sports authority on amherst st. in nashua. i didnt use the weighted hooks that come with them though, i used a 2/0 worm hook and t-rigged it, weightless.

caught him in front of the big tree in the water to the left of the boat ramp.

we tried eayers pond in hudson yesterday too. ive never caught anything there but i keep hearing these stories about huge pickeral hitting top lures there. most of the pond is less that 2' deep and the deepest part i found was 8'. it is imposable to fish once the lilypads start gowing. the sun turtles were eveywhere.

another place we tried was otternic pond in hudson. we caught a few bass there last year in the fall and my wife almost caught a HUGE pickeral(broke the line). the millfoil is so thick around the edges in the summer you have to padle out to the middle to use any kind of motor. we fished the weed edges last year but there were no weeds yesterday.

where have you had luck?

Thanks for the tips. I am very new to Bass fishing under a year, But last year I did very well for my first year. My best luck has been Nashua river (behind conway arena there is a boat ramp there), Mill Pond, POTANIPO LAKE (In Brookline, NH) and Horseshoe pond. If you have not tried the Nashua river give it a try both me and my son did ok there to. Popanipo is good, But very busy in the summer.

had good luck at horseshoe pond last year with crankbaits working the docks.

what part of the nashua river do you fish? weve tried from hollis to the merimack river shore fishing and have only had luck below the dam behind margarita's. caught a couple smallmouth there with my neibor.

NICE SPRING BASS nashua fisherman!!!  That's a HAWG!!

:)

The best luck we had at the Nashua River is behind Conway Arena by the football field, There is a boat launch there and I drive up a ways working the shore in the boat. There is alot of cover. A guy that was launching a boat told me there are some hawgs in there.

Went out today to the wilton reservoir for a few hours...got nothing, tried everything i had and fished real slow, oh well won't be able to get out again until sunday but hopefully more ice will be gone by then so more spots will open up.

It's completely open now. I got over the there for about an hour last Thursday but had no luck. Lost my first bait of the year though. I've never seen even half as many trees down as this year. The ice storm tore the place up huh? :)

Hello NH fishermen. Dose anybody know if Patuckaway lake is free of ice yet ?  Also I do see much talk of people fishing there. So is a it good fishing spot or not ? I went there several times last year late summer and did not do that well my self but that could just be me.

unhbass37, what size motor do you have on your boat? i was thinking about picking up an old gamefisher 5hp just for fishing the nashua river. i dont think my trolling motor will be enough to go upstream. ive also heard about people catching 7 pounders between the mines falls d**n and hollis rapids stretch of the river. this is supposed to be the most productive part of the river im told.

Yea that ice storm really hit there hard, I couldn't believe how many trees were down when I went up there too, I went up there Sunday but no luck, there were quite a few other people fishing there then too but everyone I talked to hadn't had any luck either.

I just have a 30lbs trolling motor and do just fine going up, But if you want to get there faster get an outboard. During the summer there is a ton of milfoil so now is a good time to go.

really?! how far have you gone up from the mines falls dam and how long did it take? do you use an anchore? what lures were most productive?

do you know where the launches are off rt.6 in nashua and in hollis by 111/111a? ive thought about drifting down from these spots and getting picked up at the launch by the d**n.

Well I only went up a short distance. There is plenty of good fishing there (Keep in mind I went in the summer). It does not take long to move along either though. I did not need an anchor either, and did not need to keep on the troiling motor. I used a crankbait (shad color) and my son tried a worm and caught a nice bass in the brush. I do not think there is a way to get on at exit 6, But I see a nice area I would like to try. There are full size bass boats going in all the time there (at the football field ramp area behind conway arena). If you want to travel any distance get the outboard as I'm sure you will get there faster.

I've found it to be a real hot and cold spot. With my schedule I usually get out on weekdays so it's not often that I see anyone there other than the couple who sit in their lawn chairs at the pump house but I know it gets a fair amount of pressure for such a relatively small body of water. Honestly the place frustrates the hell out of me! If it weren't such a convenient location I probably wouldn't go at all.

Thats so true yakfish the place really can get frustrating, if it weren't 5 minutes from my house I probably wouldn't fish it too often

i know the ramp above the mines falls dam, but there is also one on winchester st. off exit 6 furthure up.

you could also launch a car topper/canoe in hollis right after the rapids by rt111/111a. (depot rd., there is a trail to drive down and put your car/truck)
