That is the right spot......I'll be in the water by then. But do call and we'll hook up.  I hope to have a couple in the boat by then.  ;)

I hope you get some by then too, that way you can let me know where and how to start.

I am interested in seeing the results.  I have read about a good bit about BC and thought about checking it out more than once, but always chose to stick with what I am familiar with.  Do they rent boats?

Anyways, good luck to all of you.  I will be out at hunting run.  Time to call it a night I guess.

Well, none of us did all that well. I got skunked but I know the boat with Trevor and Rob had a couple fish and the "Feel the Burn" crew had quite a few, but I don't think anyone really had any size. I'll let whoever wants to report to say what they caught because I really don't remember.

That place is tough to fish and no they don't rent boats.  They don't have any facilities there.  And yes there's ton's of ticks.  I got bit all over my legs last time i went out but so far it doesn't look like Lyme Disease (I Hope).

I think it will get better once all the grass grows.  The best luck I had there was throwing a red baby Mann's minus 1 on it along the grass.  They were however dinkers.

Where did you guys fish? Did you guys try out the Dam?

Was unable to boat a keeper today. I will say it was tough for all of us, a couple of the guys got skunked. The only fish I landed was a dink. Not normal for that body of water........Good to see everyone and meet the guys from the other forum.

It was pretty rough out there but I had fun regardless. The weather was real nice and I actually don't think team "feel the burn" did too bad.  Simon had a lot of luck today.  I think he was at 3 keepers with the biggest being over 2lbs.  My other buddy also got a keeper but it was under 2lbs.  I had only a dink myself and Simon and my friend both had 2 or more dinks each.  They were mostly hitting the tubes but weren't enhaling them as we would have liked.  A lot of missed fish for Simon, 1 being well over 2lbs.  The dinks came mostly off spinner baits.  From the way things sounded from the rest of the guys it seems we didn't do too bad.

Heya guys, Had alot of fun fishing out there again on "Feel the burn" didn't get to see many people though as we all launched at different times.  We started off with buzzbaits with no luck and moved on to spinnerbaits.  I hooked up a white/red spinner and hit one at ~1.5lbs.  We then tried other baits out with no luck and I switched to a brown w/black flake coffee tube (they smell great  ;D) on a 1/8oz Owner Phantom hook.

For some reason I missed over 5 fish with this rig, two of decent size.  We started trimming the skirt to about half it's original length because I felt like they were only grabbing the skirts.  However in hindsight I'm not quite sure if this was the problem, I remember setting the hooks quite hard and would even feel them pulling after the hookset.  If they had only hit the skirts wouldn't I have pulled the skirts out of their mouths? I dunno....

But anyways...  We started trimming the skirts to about 50% of original length had some better luck with that.  Hit a 1-10oz behind a rock in between some reeds, and later on hit a 2-6oz around rocks (I had gotten snagged in the rocks and as I popped it off the rock it hit) and toss in 2 dinks in between those guys.  Andrew's got the pics so they'll be up soon!

It was unfortunate that we all didn't get to meet and talk mid way and share advice... i had good success throwing a spook before 7 am and landed two that went 3 and 2.6... the bite seemed to slow down on the south end of the lake until about 10... i think the water started to warm and made some more fish move up... managed another one about 1.5 cranking a point and lost a big big fish on 1/2oz black/blue jig because i went to long without checking my line for nicks and abrasions... i would love to meet up with any of you guys that have a jon with a motor seeing how i have a gps unit loaded with off shore structure that is going to really come into play as all the big fish go back to the depths... i'm on a mission to catch some of the biggest fish in bdam and i know some spots that will hold those fish... pm me if anyone is interested in planning another trip to go hunt for quality and not quantity's of bass

I'd be really interested!  ;D

Hopefully the next outting will be much better.

tough, tough day, always a good time with Rob though, a day full of zingers and missed hooksets accompanied by a sun burn is better than a day on the couch 8-)

Simon and Andrew, do you have any idea how bitter I was when you called and Rob hung up and informed me you guys were catchin' them on solid color tubes, I WAS FISHING A TUBE ALL DAY! oh well ;D

Not as bitter as I was. I was fishing the same tube as Simon at one point and he was catching all the fish. I only had 1 dink off a black with orange flake tube.

ok, so...when and where is the next get together?

Sorry I missed it guys.  We hosted a big bbq on Sunday and I was too hungover to get up that early.  The good news is that I picked up a nice 14ft. jon boat with a 5hp outboard and fish finder yesterday.  No trolling motor though... anyone have a spare for cheap?

Paul, what do you mean buy cheap??????? BPS sells the house brand "cheap". I think they are Motorguide units.

I was thimking the next one to be at Hunting Run.....Or a night time thingy at Burke....

I'd like a second shot at hunting run as well. I want my rods back. :P

buy that big *** magnet i was talking about and see if you can pull em back up =D

Magnet!

maybe we can even troll around and see if we can find any other dropped rods and reels, lol!

Never been, but I'm interested.  According to the VDGIF site, phase II should be finishing out....anyone know for sure if it has?  Phase II would include rental facilities, etc.  If not, I have a motor (55#) if someone has a boat.  Someone going to start the new thread?  (FISH-A-PALOOZA 2, FISHTIVAL,???)

The Facilities are there, but not permanent.  See my platest post under Hunting Run, rental prices are there.

I would definately try and make a hunting run trip.  The Rez is always good for me too.  I can rent at both places.

Quick question, can you take jon boats with trolling motors on beaver dam?

Quick question, can you take jon boats with trolling motors on beaver dam?

yes and its by far the best way to fish that place....

But there isnt a ramp you drive the boat down into the water, right?  I heard you have to carry it 100 yards, my boat is way to heavy for that far of a carry.

correct

Well, it's not exactly 100 yards...maybe 30ft...atleast where we usually launch, the main problem is getting something heavy over those darn boulders they put in the way.
