adding scent to black spinnerbait/jig

Featured Replies

Hello,

As my previous post indicated, I will be fishing muddy/cold water this weekend.  I am going to throw black/blue spinnerbaits and jigs.

Which scent should I use for the spinnerbait- crawfish or shad?

I assume I should use the crawfish for the jig.  thanks

Larry

Use any scented Kickin Bass and you'll kick bass!! I think most scents on the market are there to mask anything you may have done to the bait. It shouldn't really matter and I doubt if a fish ever turned away from a jig cuz it had shad or garlic scent on it and not crawdad.

Remember, things that are alive in water move. Sticks and rocks fall straight, plants grow tall, anything else is pray. You just want prey to smell like prey and not tobacco, nasty hands, or other chemicals that would deter a fish

Tennessee bass like tobacco, beer and whisky!

I don't think you need any scent on a reaction lure (spinnerbait).

I'm not sure you need scent on a jig either, but I sometimes use

it anyhow.

I use Megastrike on all my jigs except hair jigs. I never bother with any scent on Spinnerbaits or any reaction type lure.
