Question about lures.

Featured Replies

I have been praticing this year in a catch and release pond, only with a Spinnerbait.  I have caught so far 10 bass in 3 days time.

We are fishing off the bank, where it's rocky, near the docks " Which is where I caught most of my bass's.

My question is, What other lures is recommended to use in a weather that range from 50 - 60 degrees or 60- 70 degrees..

Any suggestions would be great.

Topwaters early and late. Senkos and other plastics almost anytime. Crankbaits and jerkbaits should work too if your spinnerbaits are producing.

Alright, I'll certainly try and use that.

However, I've never used a Jerkbait or crankbait.  Is there a particular method on how to reel those lures in, or do I just do it like a regular Spinnerbait?

Personally I would go with a 1/2 ounce cotton cordell super spot.  They produce very well for me in that weather range.

And to answer your question a crankbait you can fish like a spinnerbait but with a jerkbait your gonna want to crank it down a few feet then do a jerk, jerk, pause with it, make sure to reel in the slack afte every jerk.  Not a jerk like your setting the hook but more like a small downward twitch or your rod tip.  Pause for 5-30 secs longer if the water is really cold and if you have a bite reel in the slack before you set the hook.

And good luck!  ;D

My experience is just about any lure in 50-60, with the possible exception of topwaters, and any lure when it's 60+.
