And the winner is.................................

ZEL!!!

Please accept my sincere apologies in the delay.  Events sidetracked me for awhile, but I'm back in the game.

Mr. Zel has made an outstanding contribution to the aged and infirm with his Angelina Jolie photo.

As you can plainly see, there is no bad picture of AJ but some do rise above the fray.

If Mr. Zel would be so kind as to PM me his address I will send out the prize within 24 hours of receipt.

would it be in poor taste to post a pic of the AJ collage?

Congratualtions Zel.

I suppose this is going to open up the proverbial can of worms again, but I can't help but wonder...........

the people who were offended "especially those with children"

Where do you shop?   Seriously, there is not one photo here that is more suggestive than anything you will see at the mall.  do I need to say "victoria's secret"?

what do you say to children when your watching a gritty all american football game and a commercial for erectile dysfunction comes on?

Can your kids watch sit-coms on tv?     they all seem like one long sex joke to me.   Not to mention the silicone enhancements so proudly revealed.

What music are they listening to?   Or maybe they don't tell you, but rap is consistantly at the top of the charts so ALOT of kids are buying it.

Do I need to quote some lyrics to make my point.

With all respect to Glenn, and with full awareness that bassresource.com is his exclusive domain, I truly fail to see how a bass fishing site should be held to a higher standard of decency than the local mall, federally licensed tv shows, and music played on the public airwaves.

This question is only relevant  if one considers clothed photo's of the most beautiful woman in the world, who just so happens to be a United Nations ambassador at large, to be indecent.

Personally, while I do find them erotic, I IN NO WAY find them indecent.

I take much more offense when self righteous types point there holier than thou fingers at others and condemn them as if they were the anointed one.

NOW THAT'S offensive.

You spoke well. I'm a teen, and I know all the crap that worse in the public then it is on a fishing forum.

I just dont give a darn. If a woman flash her breast I'm like cool and move on.

Oh yah I also give her a bead necklace.

I wish to thank the Avidemy for this honor. Although I am not a fan of Ms. Jolie's politics, I find her humanitarian efforts commendable. And she's pretty easy on the eyes too! In honor of her compassionate nature, I wish to donate the prize to Muddy, for his dedication in helping those less fortunate. As a sponsor, he teaches guys the pleasure of fishing in the outdoors, as part of a structured format to recovery. He often provides them with rod, reel and tackle. And he does all this with limited resources. I hope this helps just a little in his worthy efforts.

It could be as simple as Glenn holds himself to a higher standard than the trash seen in public every day...  Remember that we each have our own standards and morally "acceptable" or "decent" are defined differently by each of us.

You see religious and political messages all over television-  things that are not generally permitted here...

:-?I must have missed something, but it sounds like it was a good miss.  Oh well, thanks Glenn for not letting this great site become too raunchy.  You have the right to let it turn into whatever you want it to, and we all have the right to hit that red "X" in the upper right corner if we don't like what we're reading/seeing. :)  Same thing goes with TV and radio, they both have "off" buttons. ;D

a higher standard than the trash seen in public every day

Thank God, we don't consider ourselves better than others, and pass judgment on them.

I think that might be offensive to some.

Especially those of us with children who are taught compassion over condemnation

or the millions who enjoy a silly sitcom after a hard day at work.

Or a man who has his dignity and self esteem restored by a little blue pill.

Or a woman who can feel feminine and desirable because she can buy some sexy lingerie

and so on.

But the values and concerns of  mainstream America have been revealed as TRASH or so sayeth he.

From what I could gather skimming the replies on the original thread it was the COMMENTS that were getting out of hand in which Glenn was referring to. Just my 2 cents.

I guess that's pointed at me... I'm not surprised.

You call Glenn out for his standards and when I offer a simple possible reason, you pronounce me judgemental. Sounds like you have a problem with anyone who has a different opinion than you, just like your little sidekick. ...lol (and no, I'm not a Baptist)

You obviously have a higher tolerance than most for what is "fine" in public. That makes you a more tolerant person, nothing more, nothing less. I believe there is a difference between legal and acceptable... if my being conservative makes me judgemental, I guess it makes you liberal. No judgements, just facts and difference of opinion.

IMO, "little blue pills and sexy lingerie" were meant for the privacy of a bedroom... not tv and the malls. I do not judge them but I do feel very sorry for a man who's dignity and self worth reside in a pill... that's not where manhood comes from.

As for BassResource.com - Glenn's site, Glenn's rules. Don't like it- start your own site.

Thank God

Turning over a new leaf, are you?

::)

Ok, where to start....

Well... if I had a child and they were of age to surf the internet, I'm sure they could stumble across worse things than a clothed picture of Mrs. Angelina Jolie.

As far as comments on the site go. If things were getting offensive to anyone, I'm confused as to why the thread was just not cut off sooner. I know Glenn is a very generous guy and he normally let's us know when we are getting out of control, but I think he warned a couple of people or warned everyone a couple times in that thread if I'm not mistaken.

Also, I think a child logging on to an AOL chatroom, or Yahoo chatroom or whatever it is that these kids use nowadays would see much more graphic textual content on there than they would here. Not to mention I don't think half of them would understand the context in that the adults spoke on this particular thread here.

As a teen I used instant messenger religiously and trust me my parents didn't have a clue as to who I spoke with or what was talked about over IMs. And I know that there are teens and adolescents that have pcs in their own rooms, whose parents don't monitor anything until they stumble across some of the sites they have been visiting (if they even know how to do that). To me this thread was just a bunch of us guys having some fun, getting some laughs and poking fun at a particular movie icon so to speak. Now if we wanted to get really vulgar I think we could have picked someone much more trashy, such as Brittney Spears... lol.

However, I can see where those who may be offended are coming from, but to me... you have the choice or option not to open the particular thread per the title or the first few comments that were made in the first place. Just my two cents...

P:s:  CONGRATS ZEL!!! or should I say Muddy?  I think we are all awaiting a speech from the great Muddy who now needs to accept this great gift of generosity!  Speech, Speech, Speech...

Okay, guys...

Thanks for all your input and suggestions, but please remember this is a "Fishing Forum".

"Everything Else" is for everything else, but it's not a pulpit and we want to keep topics "within bounds." So, what does that mean? It means not all topics or comments are "good" or "bad", black or white. When dealing in the "gray area" the Administrator and Moderators make the call and that will not always make everyone happy. It's not personal and there is no agenda, but when in doubt, we will probably throw it out. There are plenty of options on the internet that anyone can access, but they are NOT necessarily going to be a part of this Forum.

I'm not closing this thread down right now, but the trendline is heading south.

Agreed.

There's no point in continuing this.

Flechero and I have each demonstrated that we have the ability to skillfully use language to make a point while barbing one who has a different point

of view.

Well, my friend, you have made the award and that's cool.

Why don't we conclude this thread with your last post?
