I never saw them.  That fish is freaky looking.  It's face and eyes make it look like there's some intelligence there.  No wonder old-time sea farers thought they say sea monsters.

I still can't believe the size of that thing

I saw a program on Discovery channel that discussed either these fish or a relative of it.  They live in exceptionally deep water, just below the twilight zone and are amzingly graceful swimmers.  It was amazing to see the fish in its natural environment!  I think maybe the program was "Blue Planet," but I am not certain...

wow! thats gotta be hella cool to see that thing at the surface and then beach itself to die...considering how deep it lives. he's got to be one of the extreme few to ever see one alive n swimmin!!!!!! specially that shallow.

Look like a huge Ribbonfish.

I would like to know what the first guy that decides to touch or pick this thing up is thinking. No way in he*l would I be the one to be like hey guys lets grab this goofy looking thing! It may be toxic or shock us but lets get em'!
