to go rabbit hunting when it's 27 degrees, sleeting hard, and 1 inch of snow/ice on the ground? My buddies and I are hard core rabbit hunters. It's gonna be a cold one. This isn't the coldest i've hunted rabbits in, but with the sleet, it's probably the worst. I pulled out the Under Armor- Cold Gear, so I am good to go. Tell about some of your weather related hunting/fishing stories.

I've "hunted wabbits" with three feet on snow on the ground and the temps in the teens:o)

Yep.  I've fished in weather like that and I suspect I'm not alone.

I've been out fishing with water temps in the mid to lower 30s, we actually had to break through ice at the launch. We got out on the water and the weather turned on us from sleet to snow all day. our line and rod guides were freezing up on us. We caught fish though not allot but we caught fish.

My best "worst story" was hunting geese in an open grain field in Colorado. We had about 6" of snow on the ground, cloudy skies and a slight breeze. After setting up our decoy spread, the guys divided up into groups of four and sat back to back, covered with white sheets for camoflauge. The temperature was -17 degrees. After a couple of hours we decided breakfast and hot coffee might be a better option.

Are you hunting with dogs?  The temperature isn't that bad, but I wonder how the sleet will affect the dogs' ability to track.

I used to raise beagles and loved rabbit hunting.  That was back in the day when deer were few and far between back in Kentucky.  By the mid 1980s deer became so common that my dogs spent more time running deer than rabbits.

First time I ever hunted was openong morning of Deer season and it was 7 degrees-awsome!

I prefer cold tempts when hunting due to me being a meat hunter not a trophy hunter.

One week ago today I was fishing Lake Welsh in East Texas.  It was 31 degrees with freezing rain all day.  It rained about 1 1/2".  The fog was so thick I couldn't see to the end of a cast at times.  Oh, I was in my Coleman Crawdad with no bilge, so by the end of the day I was standing in 3" of water.  Caught a bunch of fish but had to quit about 3:00 PM as I had no feeling in my feet.  It took about 45 minutes of driving with the heater on high to finally get feeling back.

The sleet would be the hardest thing to contend with.  But a little "rough" weather can make a hunt more memorable.  It always feels soooo good to come out of the cold and into a warm house!

same here the past two weekends, but caught fish. stuck my hands in the water to help thaw out. water temp mid 60's on this power plant lake
