From the B Files - Layin' the smackdown

Let me play the devil's advocate for a second:

Why support this 'entertainment' when most if not all the guys/gals are using steriods/HGH and some are becoming mentally unstable. High suicide rate and violent behavior has been on the increase in this 'sport'.

I've seen that asked before Eddie. Isn't it or wasn't it an issue in baseball? We see it in MMA sometimes too. Anywhere there are sports there is always seems to be a case of steroids. Along the same line what about the use/abuse of pain killers in all the other sports?

Plus most of what I've read from the ones that used only did't it early on in their careers. It gave the above natural amount of muscle we see (not saying you can't get really huge naturally). They don't need to keep using them once they get their size, so they will lose some size when they stop. Many don't but some do. Where are the ones that do? They recently are being weeded out by things like wellness policies.

What suicides?  Other than Benoit.

Burley I'not sure what the cause was but the Von Eric family has had several suicides. I know there were a few others, but I don't know the causes.

The Von Erics were just nuts, but very entertaining.  You can look at them and see they didn't do a whole lot of steroids.

Nice pics looks you must have had good seats to have that good of pictures. I actually met Triple H like 5 years ago in golds gym in nashua, nh, very big dude lol

Kerry, Mike, and Chris were all nuts.  Somewhat due to the pressure that came from being Fritz Von Erich's son.  They couldn't handle the pressure.

The tale of the Von Erich family isn't a good example of any problem in pro wrestling.  Rather it is an isolated incident.

Last show I went to was about 5 years ago.  I took a sign that said "White Trash" with an arrow pointing down to me.  Crowed loved it, especially when I took off my shirt and chuged a beer while holding up the sign.  My wife however was not so impressed.  I believe it was the smack to the back of my head when I yelled out " I love you Lita!" that was the last straw, needless to say we have not been back.  But Lita did turn around and blow me a kiss!  ;)

Like I said I wasn't sure on the reason behind the Von Erics but they were the quickest example to come to mind. However, it seems more people have died in either accidents or from drug overdoses than anything directly related to steroids.

OD's are the nature of the profession.  They all self-medicate and deal with a great deal of debilitating pain.

Since this is the way this thread is going: Problem is well documented:

There are many more articles from major news sources , Wrestling has a problem Houston!

All good articles Muddy. I never saw the first one before. I don't think most people deny there are steroids and pain killers in wrestling anymore. These guys are paid to have that look and took go out night after night and perform. That may be part of the problem, when do they get a chance to go home or physically and mentally recover?

It's just interesting how you only seem to see wrestlers come up as the "steroid monsters." What about the other athletes and movies stars getting ready for their next roles? Definitely what about body building? You don't really think a person's stomach should protrude like that? Enlarged organs, I belive the intestine especially, are a side affect of HGH.

However, I do think steps are trying to be taken to slowly correct this problem. Will they rid wrestlign of it? No. Things like the wellness policy, Federal investigation, and media attention can all work to try and correct what is happening.

I guess you just have to remember when you watch you are watching to be entertained, not to find a role model.
