Bang O Lure

Featured Replies

One of my best producers over the years has been a Bagley's Bang O Lure in 5", Black back, silver. It is a balsa wood lure and considered " Old School" around my neck of the woods. Its very erratic on the twitch. Anyone else had as much luck on these baits as I have had? Smallies crush them around here, as well as, green bass. It seems to do best for me at first light or late evening when the fish are shallow.

For a LONG time, one of the topwater staples here on Kentucky lake has been the Bang-O-Lure with the tailspinner in the chrome/blk back with the "tiger" stripes on the side.  I always have one tied on when beating the shore in early spring.

For quite some time the Bagley Bang-O-Lure went toe-to-toe with the Rapala Original Floater,

during that era, lures made of Balsa Wood were hard to come by.

i love those lures. they used to make a three inch version that was unmatched on the streams for smallies.

i only have one left and can not find them anymore. they were great in their day.

I'm also a fan of the Bang-O-Lure. I use them with the prop and also with it removed. No other minnow bait twitches quite like it. I've caught lots of bass on them. My dad turned me on to these baits years ago.
