BCS National Championship

As many of y'all know I'm a 100% SEC/LSU fan but I also know enough football to understand that the Big 12 rocks this year with outstanding play by Texas Tech, Oklahoma, & Texas. The only shot any other conference has is the SEC with Florida because face it Alabama does not have the passing defense to compete nor does Alabama have a QB with enough arm strength to beat either of Big 12 teams. I don't see USC competing offensively or defensively. My first of the year prediction was the SEC wins regardless of who the play but now I have to admit it will be hard for a Big 12 team to loose. Who I'm I picking to win? I'll tell you after the Texas Tech/Oklahoma game.

Texas Tech fans, forgive me, but I still have my doubts that this team is the best in the Big 12.  If they beat Oklahoma I'll have to concede on this point.  I think if they played Texas again they would be defeated.  I know, I know, they played and it's now history but that's my gut feeling.  It would be nice to see the Big 12 take home a national championship though.  My Missouri Tigers really let me down this year.

If Texas Tech beats OU then everything should work out all nice and neat. .... Texas Tech vs the winner of Florida/Alabama

If Tech loses to OU ... all hell could break loose.  It would be a shame if the NC is not a Big 12 vs SEC match up.  Clearly the two best conferences this year.  It would be a shame to see USC sneak in. ::)

I'd like to see Texas play in the championship. DUH!!

A lot of people are saying OU can beat Tech. I think they have a good shot (And I'd like to see Tech loose) but TT is looking waaaay good!!

I have a question for ya'll who actually understand the BCS......... If Tech beats OU, and remains undefeated, And wins the BIG 12 and Alabama looses to Florida in the SEC championship game, and Texas keeps on winning and is the runner up in the BIG 12 South. So Texas would be #2 and Tech would be #1 would they play in the BCS championship?

It seems like they would, but I don't know if two teams can play if they're from the same confrence.

Hook 'Em!!

With the BCS any "BS" is possible .... but one would assume that Florida would make a jump over Texas. Florida would have just beaten the #1 team in the country while Texas was at home sitting on the couch.

As an example look how UT jumped when they beat OU. Then look how TTU jumped when they beat UT. I would assume Florida would do the same thing.

may be wrong but, believe winning a conference championship tips the scale in favor of that winner versus a #2 in another conference.

I think you're right. And I think that OU will beat TT, creating a three way tie in the big 12 south. OU, having just knocked off the #2 team will will rank highest in the BCS and play for the big 12 championship. My prediction is Florida/Oklahoma in the BCS title game.

If OU beats TT and OSU, then they would have the late season jump due to SOS.

Texas played four consecutive top tens in a row.    They needed a late season game to mean something to hang on.    It looks as though OU or Tech has the best shot at making it out of the Big XII based on upcoming games.    Don't over look Mizzou in getting revenge in the Big XII title game either.   They are dangerous as any team out there.

I'm not so sure OU's defense can stop Tech.   OU can score with the best of them, but has shown they aren't consistent on defense.     Tech's defense has shown they can stop you at times.

I'd say Florida is playing better than anyone in the SEC right now.

How does South Carolina at 7-3 get ranked again?    So Florida can look better in SOS?     TCU got beat by OU and Utah, both highly ranked and can't even be ranked above South Carolina, and I'm sure there are better than TCU that deserved to be ahead of SC.    But????

How does Michigan State rank above LSU?

If TT loses to OU I think things will get interesting. Especially considering TT played two 1-AA schools early in the season.

It's all about the linebackers.

OU has been terrible stopping the pass across the middle this year.  TT will tear them apart if they don't get their act together.

The NCG should be the winner of the BIG12 and the SEC...

So Texas/OU/Tech vs. Bama/ Florida.

Right now, my gut tells me OU vs Florida.  I hope Stoops can win a BCS game this year.

Unless Florida or Alabama manage to lose a game before going to the conference championship, I can't picture the NC being played without one of the two.

The Big 12 for sure is by far the most interesting thing going right now. Four teams competing for a shot at getting the title and I think that three are certainly deserving of it (I still do not believe Missouri qualifies). I'll be interested in how this thing turns out. This years NC should be the first equally matched game in the last 3-4 years.

Well, I know I'm in the minority and biased on Bama but I think they get the job done in the SEC Championship. Being the whipping dog in every major game todate and coming out on top says something about their desire to compete.

TT loses to Oklahoma and sets up Bama vs OU.

The SEC will prevail whether it's the Gators or the Tide. The Big XII haven't got the defense to beat either!

I hope Stoops can win a BCS game this year.

No kidding!

Tech is not the same team that played Bama in 2005.  Big 12 teams don't care if you "hog" the ball.  Two minutes is all they need.

Does anybody else find this as funny as I do?

For some people, I think the definition of being a hater has devolved to the point where you can't respectfully disagree with them without being called a hater.  I don't see any hate or disrespect for Alabama in this thread.  I see good people giving their opinions about BCS matchups.

With LSU out of contention, my support goes to OU.  Having watched how TT's Graham Harrell dismantled OSU's defense, I have serious misgivings about the OU vs TT match-up.  Granted, OU's Sam Bradford is equally as potent as Harrell (both Heisman candidates) but I don't believe OU's defense will be up to the task.  They certainly weren't when they had to take on UT's McCoy, another Heisman candidate.

You hit the nail on the head. OU's defense has looked soft, especially up the middle, against higher caliber teams this year.

If OU is going to win this one, and I really think they will, they must score 40, if not 50+.

I'm thinking TT will make it to the championship and ou has 2 big loses coming.  OU will struggle against tt passing game, which is amazing.  Then they are playing OSU at home, granted i just graduated from OSU I believe OU is going to go sour.  I think it will be a good game OU vs. TT considering they both have by weeks this week, something that will definitly be watched heavily.

Before the Tech/OSU game on Saturday, I predicted to my roommate that Mizzou would surprise everyone and win the Big 12 championship, and that USC would sneak into the picture.  I would love this, because then we would get to see Florida thrash USC, something that SEC fans have been dreaming of for a long time.

After the Tech game, I'm not so sure.  That's the first Tech game that I have watched in entirety this season, and it was pretty amazing.  So I'll amend my prediction:  Tech beats Mizzou in the Big 12 title game, then gets thrashed by Florida in the National Championship.

At this point in the season, any college football discussion should begin and end with Florida.  Of course, anything can happen, especially since Florida still has to get past Bama.  But I think they'll take this one.

If Tech plays OU the way Texas did, then OU will go down.

As many have noted, OU's middle is soft.    I also see OSU/OU being great showdown in Norman.

I think Florida is playing some great ball in the SEC right now.

Although I don't think Conference championships add into the BCS computers, I wouldn't want to play Mizzou, I still think they are dangerous and can play spoiler.

Tech and the SEC works for me.  I'd rather it be my horns, but Tech has earned that vote from me at the time.

Go Big XII

Texas Tech beat Texas, Texas beat Oklahoma, & if Texas Tech beats Oklahoma then I believe Florida is the only other team defensively with a chance of beating Tech.

Yeah, Florida does look wicked right now. They could very well take it all. I'm a Missouri fan, but their defense has been very suspect this year. Also, Chase Daniel has shown that he is quite human after his awesome season last year. He has thrown ten interceptions; nine in the last five games. While his stats are still among some of the best quarterbacks he would be lucky to make the top five this year. I don't see Missouri beating the Big 12 South champion, but I'll be happily surprised if they do.  Of course, Missouri has to hang on and win the North first.

Senile1, as much as I hate it, there is no, I repeat, NO possible way Moo doesn't win the north.  And yes, you probably won't beat OK, Texas, or even Tech in the Big XII championship game.  It's just too bad the Big XII eats it's own because I believe we have 3 out of the top 4 teams in the country.

16 team playoff would end up with a minimum of three Big XII teams in the semi-final games.

Ring Fry, I won't count Kansas out until it's over. They have played Texas tough in the past when Texas was highly rated. It's possible that they could beat Texas and then beat Mizzou at Arrowhead. I don't think it's probable but you never know. Too bad they lost at Nebraska.
