Enough rain already!

We've had over 8.5" in the last 40 days.  And due for another 2"+ over the next 36 hours.

Wouldn't be so bad if the lakes would fill up, but few are holding any water.  >:(

Until our lakes stop looking like this, I'll welcome every drop.

btw, theres about 50 vertical feet of ramp above where that pic was taken.

My Rain Bird irrigation business is slowly going down hill. :-? We either have to much rain or I'm using to much water out of the lakes. :-/

That's pretty harsh to look at.  I thought we had low water levels last year... :-/

Yeah I would love it if we had some rain down here.  Diamond Valley Lake has been closed for months due to low water.

The bad thing is that ALL  of our lakes look like that.  I think I only have 2 lakes I fish that are less than 50 vettical feet down.  As 4bizz put it once -

"Our lakes look like the neighbors dog peed in the sandbox  ;D"

We are curently gettin 1 and 4   tenth inches of FROZEN RAIN!! AN ICE STORM, and it just started. >:(

Some of the lakes in SE Virginia are brimming.  One lake I fish frequently was 8-10 feet low in October is just about overflowing now.

Let it rain. My lake is 13 feet low. When your talking about 71,000 acres that's alot of water. So let it rain.

If it has rained so much why aren't the lakes holding water? Is the ground so dry that tthe water is wicking away? or is the spring feeding it so low that the spring hasn't filled up yet? I would think 8.5 in's would have filled up every lake around????

When the lakes look like that it is time to take pictures, walk, and gps as many spots as possible. It will be worth it.

TVA lakes won't start retaining water until March or April.  The local town whose reservoir I fish more than any other place is supposed to be starting an upgrade to their water treatment plant this year, so I'd say they're keeping the lake down for that future work.

Burley, I don't know anything about the TVA.  Do they supply power in Virginia?

Im worried about the basement flooding right now in the new house. If we could get a couple of catfish they could make it in the pond Ive got building up right now. Lets just say the drain lines just don't seem to be carrying everything away. May be a good time ot take a day off tomorrow.

Stripes you know your biggest problem was building in Scott County, plenty of room here in Wise for ya.

As far as the TVA goes they should at least hold enough back right now to get them to 12-15' low and then adjust accordingly come spring.  At least that way they wouldn't be placing all their eggs in the heavy spring rains basket which hasn't happened in the past 4 years.  If they did this at least we wouldn't bee seeing all the lakes around 20-30' low all summer.

No one in Wise County would give me free land.   ;)  Plus I look right down on the Clinch and can see if its fishable or not.

I'm loving this rain!  Our creeks and rivers haven't been hardly at all above normal levels and this rain is making them reach their banks.  This means that most of the ponds and lakes around here should be full now.  I just left work on an errand and noticed one of the ponds I fish is now full.  It hasn't been full since last winter.  I'm tickled pink right now.  8-)

I bet you can see it dang good right now.   The Guest next to Burley's this morning was about 6' over normal about to break the banks into the yard of the house right next to the bridge.

Yeah I know.  I came that way to work this morning because the tanker that wrecked on 23 in BSG.  I was afraid of what kind of delay I might be looking at.

OK, now we got snow on top of the rain.

Quite a bit of flooding along the river today.

The Clinch has almost reached the road in Clinchport as of this afternoon.

There were some people on the Holston bridge in Weber City as I came through tonight.  Probably worried about the big piles of logs that accumulate on the piers of that bridge.

They worry about nothing.  Ive seen tons of logs pile up on the trussels and stay there till the next flood.
