Loud commercials

What the hell is up with all these d**n loud commercials?  You'll have the volume set to a nice level, then a commercial will pop up where the audio is 2X louder than everything else on the channel.  ESPN is really bad for it.

Almost enough to make me blow my dish into a thousand pieces.

I know what you're saying they should have all the TV show and commercials all set to the same level. I'm naturally lazy and its a pain in the a$$ to keep grabbing the remote and turning the volume down when they come on and when the show comes back on I can't hear it so then I gotta turn up the volume.... its a pain!

HAHAHA ;D

Commercials are the reason that all of the letters have been eroded off my Mute button.  At the Zero volume level, even the screaming Billy Mayes becomes just another babbling used car salesman - unheard.

I have a setting on my T.V that will keep the commercials the same level as my program.  Check yours out, if it's a newer t.v.

Yes. Some sets do have this feature.  It's often called "Steady sound" or something similar.

Very annoying. I'm slammin' the MUTE button for the commercials. What do they have to say anyway?

I am totally convinced that Billy Mays is the anti-christ...

X2,

It happens every time the commercial for "The Snuggie" comes on.  That thing drives me nuts

I really appreciate at about 7:30 when my 7 month old has just gone to sleep.  ::) I think I'm going to take a sledgehammer to my tv and just start reading books.

this is another one i vote to execute.

I agree 100%.

My DVR has spoiled me to the point that I can't watch real time TV any more. I'll set it to record or start a show, hit the pause button and come back 15 minutes later so I can skip through the obnoxious things. The downside is I have no idea what kind of toothpaste I should be using, what cola is my favorite or what talentless "pop star's" album I should be listening to.

It's a trade off I'm willing to make :)

swmbo bought me a sony bravia sound system for the big tuna at christmas.

the commercials are at the same sound level as regular t.v. if i turn the t.v. sound system off.

now, if i could just find a way to kill billy mays.

Burley, you could always give the tv the Elvis treatment.

You got an extra $2000 lying around to replace it?

For that kind of money there's got to be smart sound on there somewhere.

I don't use the speakers on the TV.

I always thought it was either my TV/box set up or something locally, odd to hear it's a nationwide thing.

And yea, it IS annoying.....has you scrambling for the remote all the time

What you fellas need is an AVCD: AUTOMATIC VOLUME CONTROL DEVICE

Here is what they look like:

Not sure exactly how it works, but it's part of boughten advertising package.  If I heard right a few years ago, advertisers pay extra for this extra "feature".

Personally I think this is why he is so loud:
