Man vs Wild

Featured Replies

Im sure alot of you have seen this guy on the discovery channel. I really do like the show. I thought he was supposed to show you what to do if your ever lost in these places. Last night he was swinging of a vine over a 50 ft drop into rocks at the head of this cave in Belize. Then once on the other side of the rock cliff he climbs down. Ive never been lost in places like this and i probably never will. But i thought that you might want to keep yourself free of injury when lost. I know its for the entertainment value, but it seems he makes things harder than they should be. After the tarzan swing and the Stalone cliff hanger scene, he went through an underground river. He came upon a spot he could see a little bit of light ahead but the rest was under water. He didnt have a clue how far it was he had to swim to get to the opening. The guy is nuts. im sure hes never in real danger with his film crew there but all im saying is that some of the extremes he goes through are a bit far fetched. I do love the show though. Bear Grils i solute you.

Personally, I like Survivorman much better.  He's by himself and doesn't do all the crazy "stunts".  He just shows how to survive and why you do or don't do certain things.

yeh ive watched him. Les is his name i think. Its good. There just something about that guy i dont trust. lol but its a good show.

At first I only watched man v wild and it took me a couple of shows of survivorman to like it.  Once I realized he didn't have a crew or wasn't just hamming it up for the camera I started to really like it.

But you trust the Brit.   Les (Survivorman) was the first with this type of show he started it in Canada 5-6 years ago and I believe they came up with the other one not so much as a survival type show but to show some extreme stuff that can happen.

Yes i trust the Brit. I guess Les survived Canada. lol Im sure it was tuff with all them French and free health care. lol j/k Tom and Sorry to any Frenchmen. lol

Bear's show is good entertainment. However if the average man tries to do what he does in the wild they are going to find themselves dead before they starve to death. I like Les's show better. No film crew, he does not get air lifted to sleep in hotels, and I can actually attempt some of the stuff he does.

Between these two choices, SURVIVORMAN ROCKS! He actually shows you things to help you stay alive. Bear shows you how to make a TV show entertaining. For my time I will spend it watching Les and if I want entertaining, there are other shows to watch beside Bear.

No need to appologize to me.   I was just tryin to point out that they are two different types of shows, although very similar they are doing two different things with them.   Les' show is about trying to teach survival for normal people that could find themselves in more realistic situations, whereas Bear shows what happens and what you can do in more extreme/could happen but not likely situations.

Just wait I think Muddy is planning on hosting a show about surviving in New York City (including the 5 boroughs).  I think he is torn over the first episode... between FINDING A BATHROOM and SURVIVING THE SUBWAY.

TheBeast is absolutely right. I enjoy watching both shows but I prefer Survivorman (if I had to choose) as it's more realistic and I feel Les Stroud does a fine job of explaining things of importance.

That's nothing, their needs to be a production crew at Kentucky Lake for a new show called Suriving a week at the lake with BURLEY!!!!!!

You guys are missing the best "Survivor" show.... The Grizzly Diaries!!!    ::) :-X

Lastnights Man V. Wild was a repeat.  He also has a life jacket tucked inside his shirt when he goes drifting down the rapids. You have to freeze frame the scene and zoom in to see it.  FAKER.  Then he gets airlifted to stay in a hotel during the shoots.  FAKER. A few other scenes of his are FAKE also but he is entertaining.

I like Les Stroud much better.  At least he hasn't got caught FAKING yet.

I would rather watch the 6' snowbanks from all the snow in my driveway melt...

You sure? i thought it was supposed to be a new episode. Anyway i never seen it.   Yeh the Boa he ate was huge. I think i would be more freaked out by the insects at night rather than the snakes.

It may have been a new episode.  I thought one of the scenes looked familiar but I switched the channel.

Bear Grylls is a preening clown. I love the "wild" horse that he "captured" in the sierra nevada. It was freshly shod.

Les Stroud makes a much better show, no bravado, just applicable survival techniques and situations. Too bad it was cancelled.

I can't wait for "THE SEARCH FOR THE ENGLISH SPEAKING CAB DRIVER" episode.

That pretty much summarizes what he does. He goes out, finds the absolute most disgusting and revolting things possible to eat, then he makes a point of eating them in the most unappetizing way possible. After all, it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining if he cooked stuff before he ate it.

Survivorman > Man Vs. Wild

Now even I could enjoy that. ;D

I just can't see me ever getting lost enough to eat some of that crap he eats and most definitely wouldn't take the risks he takes. ::)
