Polarized Sun Glasses

Featured Replies

Thinking about getting a pair of these...Do these really work and help you catch more fish? i'm not looking to spend alot of money on sunglasses either so i want to know if the low end ones work well.

Don't know about you catching more fish but a quality pair will definately help you cut down on the glare on the water and help you to see what's going on in the water .

The low end glasses suck. You really pay for what you get.

I use the Bolle' as they have four different sets of lens that you can change out as conditions warrant. I also have a pair of Costa del Mar that have the amber lens. They both work great; however, if you use a pair of snuggles I would reccommed the Costas as the Bolle' do not attach well with the type of ear pices used on them. JMO

helps a lot especially if your sight fishing or their is a large glare.

i see them as a necessity

They will help you see more fish, but most importantly they will protect your eyes. With sunglasses especially, you get what you pay for.

Polarized glasses can help you see into the water better than with the naked eye. Low end might not be as good as high end, but they still can see into the water better than your eyes because of the polarization. But whatever you get, at any price, make sure they offer full protection from UVA and UVB rays.

I've got 2 pair of Bolle and I love them. I think they were about $ 120 a piece but they protect your eyes and work well in the water. Only problem is they don't float, thats why I have 2 pair now. My first pair took the plunge and I didn't have another pair that day. That sucked. You do get what you pay for and you want to make sure your peepers are protected. Good luck,

I'll speak from the LOW end of the 'you get what you pay for' arguement.  I have bought two pairs of 'fishing glasses' as I call them that are just cheap polarized sunglasses from Wally that sell for about $20 in the fishing department.  I thought the ones I bought were great (I can't live without sunglasses on my eyes during daytime) and even the amount of glare they reduce I thought was awesome.  Then I started hearing other guys talk about glasses over $100 so if these feel good to me, I really want to find out how a pair of the nice glasses work!  I do agree, you get what you pay for.

i have a pair of $20 polarized sunglasses i picked up in the fishing section of walmart and they seem to work just fine. I haven't tried any of the high dollar ones but these do make a difference

I will say they help you catch fish because without them you are damaging your eye beyond belief. After years in the construction industry during the 60/70s when wearing sunglasses were not allowed I can't even walk outside with out them.

Get the $20 ones.  If you have never tried polarized before then you will be amazed.  They will help you see what is down there.  Over time you can start to memorize what's under water on your favorite lakes and fish it from a distance without spooking the fish.

If you like them enough then save up and get some $60, $100, or even $180 glasses. You do get what you pay for, but $20 glasses are better than none.

From low end to high end, Solar Bat makes some good glasses. A buddy of mine picked up a cheap pair at Wal-Mart and they do the job. I personally have the higher end of there product, but.

Next to actually seeing some fish, what I think the big advantage is, is being able to see the structure better. Talking on the cheap end of the Solar Bats for example, in this pond my buddy and I fish when where not out on the big lakes, there[ch8217]s a ton of timber and underwater vegetation in the water that you just will not see without polarized glasses. With his cheap pair of Solar Bats from Wal-Mart you can see the timber and weeds as clear as day. So yes even some cheap pairs can get the job done.

What are your eyes worth?

I currently use Oakley Monster Dog Fishing Shallows and there is no comparison between them and my previous Walmart $20 pair. I can see better in the water with the Oakley's.

My brother-in-law has some Smith's and last year he would always be saying, did you see that fish? I never did with the Walmart pair so I decided to upgrade and it is worth it.

Of course, the Walmart ones are better then nothing but you do get what you pay for.

COSTA DEL MAR.... The absolute best sunglasses out in my opinion, and I've had a lot. Get Fathoms with green lenses and the water will basically disappear. I can see anything and everything in the water and I wouldn't own another pair for anything in the world... except maybe a '08 Skeeter with a 250 Optimax..

Defiantly get a pair! I went fishing over the weekend and forgot my polarized sunglasses. I won't make that mistake again. I have a pair of SunCloud sunglasses and I really like them. I think they are around sixty dollars.

I think any pair would be better than none. I will say this when you spend over twenty dollars on a pair of glasses you tend to guard them with your life. I can't count the amount of sunglasses I have lost each summer. I have defiantly kept up with this pair.
