Transporting rods/reels

I am curious how you guys transport your rods and reels in the back of your trucks. I have a couple rods over 7' and they will not lay diagonally and I do not want the rod tips to rest on the tailgate. I was hoping some of you have some suggestions. If you have built any type of holder, please post a picture if possible.

Thanks guys!

My rods don't go in the back of my truck.  Dogs, wife, girlfriends, sod and beer cans perhaps, but not my rods.  They go inside the truck with me.

One option is PVC pipe secured somehow (bungee cords?) to the inside of the bed. You should get some rod jacket type things to protect them from rattling around within the PVC.

put the rod tips in the sliding window of the rear windshield?

Invest in a Bazooka Pro tube.  best money you will spend on rod transportation.  If it works for me to take my rods halfway around the world, I'm sure it will work in the back of your truck. :)

The rod holder I use in my Blazer can also be used in a pickup bed. It is made of nylon webbing with 6 loops sewn on one strap and velcro loops sewn on the other strap. The straps attach to both sides of your interior window frames or truck bed with screws. The permant loop strap is the front one and you slide the rod tips through the loops then open the velcro loops on the rear strap, lift the rod handle to the strap and close the velcro. The rods hang suspended over your gear in the truck safe from damage ;). I have seen them in both Cabela's and Bass Pro Shop catalogs. Got mine at Cabela's.     Happy fishing.
