Wacky Rigged Senko Help?

Featured Replies

Whats the best hook to use when Wacky Rigging 5" senkos. I have been wacky rigging ZOOM trick worms for years ( using Owner 1/0 worm hooks) and have deciede to give these senkos a try. Some help is much appriciated! Oh and im using o-rings on them as well. Should i use circle hooks?

Thanks,

David

If you like the wacky setup I would recommend you go to your local hardware store and pick up some heat shrink tubing. 1/4" is the size I believe I use. This way the senko won't get destroyed as fast. You can find this in the electrical section.

Just cut a small piece of the tubing. Make sure you put it in the center of the worm and heat it up with a lighter. Just put the hook right underneath where the tube is. I haven't not had any problems with hook ups using the tubing either.

Edit:  I didn't see the part in your post about the o rings.  The tubing is an alternative to that.

Alright, I am new to this whole thing and could someone please explain to me the purpose of the O ring and how it is actually used?  Do you slide the O ring down onto the worm and not put the hook through the worm at all?  Im lost, a picture is worth a 1000 words, if anyone has one of this setup...

Thanks

I really like using the 4 inch for wacky rigging it almost works better and instead of o rings I use small black zip ties which are cheaper and they hold the worm alot better

6 and 7 inch senkos are best for wacky rigging if you want better quality fish.

Not always true. I caught about ten fish this week on a 4" Senko, the biggest being about 6lb.

I also find that I have better luck and bigger fish with a 4" Senko. Watermelon w/red flake works best for me.  ;D Good luck!

I use gamakatsu finnese hooks there just like circle hooks just alittle different they work real good. I just started using the red ones and have been catching alot of fish.

I use senko's a lot, but always rig them straight on an offset worm hook weightless. My question would be, when wacky rigging, do you set the hook the instant you feel the bit, or give them a couple seconds? I usually let them swim with it a second or two before setting the hook. Thanks in advance

I like texas-rigging them and putting a small split shot above the hook.
