I'm sorry, we are currently in maintenance mode.

Featured Replies

Does the forum go into "maintenance mode" every night, or just every night I try to surf the forums late at night?

It does it just about every night at the same time.

It's not paranoia if they REALLY are out to get you :P...

I just find it annoying that I have to sign in the next time I come on here.

It seems like every time that I get on at night, I read a couple of threads. Then when I want to post something, it's maintenance mode time.

Happens to me all of the time.  Maintenance mode always seems to happen about 15 to 20 minutes after I get home from work.

Glenn puts it in Maintenance Mode at about the same time every night. If he didn't do that then the sight would quickly become bogged down and almost stop working. If he goes a few days without doing it, it will take well over an hour to do it. He does it between 12:15 and 12:45am eastern almost every night. So expect it. It has to be done.

It's a small price to pay, to keep this place running so well.

Happens to me as well. If I'm on the forum when it goes into maintenance, I have to go look up may password the next day. But I can still log on ok with the other computer, no problem. Is there a way of changing the password to one that is easier to remember?

Never mind, I found how to change the password.

I'm not complaining, I was just curious. I do most of my surfing late at night when most respectable folks are in bed sleeping and I've been caught by it mid post a couple of times.

it's probably rougher being a br moderator.   ;)

Most browsers have features that allow you to save your username and password. All I have to do is go to the bottom of the page and click a button.

That's only 9:15 here and I usually don't even start my nightly brousing untill 7:300 ro 8:00. From now on I'll make this my first stop instead of my last or next to last.     Happy fishing.

It's actually all my fault. Every night about the same time, I'll type up some long winded diatribe about something that really torques me and when I go to hit the 'Post' button it tells me the site is in maint. mode and my post vanishes. Sorry fellas.  ;)

Seriously, Glenn does do a fantastic job maintaining this site and if it has to be done nightly to keep it that way, so be it. After all, he's buying the drinks here; we're just guests.  8-)
