I haven't been around for a while.  I have been Bow hunting a lot and have had the good fortune to harvest 2 doe so far.  Have passed several small bucks up to 6 points.

Also the site is so slow to load for me in is not as much fun.  It takes 2 minutes and 40 seconds to load and I have the highest speed DSL my server offers.  I have had my provider's people here and ck everything on their end and all ck's out.  Any suggestions? I miss being here!!!!!!

Regardless I will be at Pickwick.

Hope this slow forum deal gets straightened out soon so I can be here more.

Kelley, how is it going?     Glad you have some backstrap for the winter, nothing like some good chili and stew as well.

Was having some issues myself with this site being slower than any others, only thing I did is go back to the old browser I was using, which was updated prior to the noticing the problem.

Seemed to solve the problem.

It may not be browser related at all.

Try doing a Disk Cleanup - Click here for instructions.

The next thing is run Windows update, and then make sure your AV/Spyware protection are up to date.

We can go further with registry scrubs, and other malware removal, just to be sure, but for now, I bet these simple things will bring some improvement.

Ditto. I have IE and FF on my box. I had a period where FF loaded SLOW I mean REALLY slow on this site. I cleared my cache and history a bit and everything straightened out.

Why it is this site that seems to do it more than more, not too sure. But then again I do not log into news sites and what not or have them save session or login info like I do here so there is more data to deal with.

I clear my cache, keep all my updates current, do a disc cleanup regularly, and never have a problem.

I have done all of the above religiously. While I am waiting I get in lower left of page "waiting on hhtp://bassrescorce.com/bass-rescorce-forum/" ect. ect.

Guys, for whatever difference it may make, Kelley just tried logging in on his computer with MY log in info and it didn't work.  A screen pops up on him stating that the user ID and password do not match.  Does this help at all in trying to figure out his issue?  Thanks.

He was going to his brothers house, who uses the same service, and log in there with his own info to see if there was a difference.

Thanks, ff15

OK, I have to confess.  Due to the abuse I have been receiving on the Road Trip thread, I planted a worm on this site that seeks to eliminate Illini posters by drastically slowing everything down for them.

Watch these guys Mike, push them too much and one of them may end up putting grape juice in the Franzia box.

Nope we will drink it and recycle it. Can't let cheap wine go to waste.

I have this same problem.  I have 2 computers, a desktop that has Windows Vista on it, and my macbook pro that I have partitioned with Linux(openSUSE) and OSX.  My desktop can't get to the forums hardly ever, but I have never had a problem on the mac.  I design websites as a hobby and have seen some crazy stuff.  Website opens correctly in firefox but not in IE, works on windows but not on OSX... as many issues as I am reading about this lately I have a feeling it may be a scripting error.  Maybe I'll do a good deed and go over the page source, wont be able to fix anything but at least could email Glenn any scripting errors I may find to get to his web guy.

It's very simple to eliminate, or confirm any issues with the site.

1. Clear your cache & cookies

2. Close all browser windows

3. Open a new browser window

4. Go directly to http://www.bassresource.com (do NOT go to any other page on BassResource first!)

5. Note how quickly or slowly it loads.

6. Click the "Enter" link at the bottom.

7. Note how quickly or slowly it loads.

8. Now click the "Fishing Forums" link in the green navigation bar.

9. Note how quickly or slowly it loads.

The first page has a minimum of scripting and elements to load, the second has universal scripting and element loading contained throughout the site, the last introduces forum scripting not present on the previous 2 pages.

My guess is that the first page will load as slowly as the others, which indicates a problem with an anti-virus/malware/spyware program, a firewall issue, a setting somewhere on the computer, or an issue with your ISP.

IF the first page loads quickly, but the others don't, then it's either a script issue, or a problem with an element loading (such as an ad).

IF the first two load quickly, but the forum does not, then it indicates a script problem with the forum.

Well I looked over the scripting, besides a few very minor things that would do very little if anything besides neaten up the coding, I found nothing wrong.

However I do find it stange that when running diagnostics, IE updates the site faster than firefox on a windows OS, but that could be accounted for with issues in firefox programing.

Triton, if your running a firewall, anti virus software etc it could be as Glenn suggested.  Maybe try booting up, going into your task manager, and ending any anti virus firewall etc etc and then trying.  If this works for you then you may just need to put a bipass into your firewall or whatnot.

It could also be a DNS issue with the service provide. I'm also in Southern IL but I have Mediacom as my internet provider and the sites plenty fast.

You'g got it.

I've looked at Triton's PC in the past, and as much as his providers love to deny it, the culprit is in their DNS servers/config.  His primary/secondary DNS entries only had entries for the primary, secondary was always blank.

Simple tracert from Kelley's router will show packets dropping like rocks.

Thanks everyone for all the replies.  Good to see your post Brian.  I am getting to put a 'BOOT' where the sun don't shine at my ISP.

I am up and running again.  I had to threaten the IP guy with my Nephew who is president of the CO-OP.  He got off his arse and found that the DNS server had shut down.  May tell my nephew anyway that this guy is not doing his job..

Once again, THANKS Glenn, Brian, Brian, (there were at least 2 Brians helping) and all the rest for helping, except Long Mike, he is and always be a crochity old arse hole just like me.
