I found it rather confusing.

Michigan was something like the third/fourth slide, but the number 49 shows when you scroll on top of the picture.  So is it #3 or #4, or is it #49.

Seeing a picture of Rich Rod's Wolverines makes me thing it is the latter of those choices.

It was #49, It was a countdown from the most unhappy to the happiest.

It's curious that the "most educated" states are lumped towards the bottom while the "least educated" are mostly towards the top of the list.

Wait 'till Sam sees this ;D

BTW Sam, I was reading an article online that said if you're a true cajun you suck the spices out of the head too.

I'll do it ;)

in general, it may have more to do with population density.

Mine's towards the bottom.  No surprise with all the rain here.  Plus we just "won" the "worst traffic" award for the entire country.  Oh joy.

Michigan #48...Explains why i go fishing a lot...it keeps me happy in this depressing state.  :)

I will say this though, when i go visit my parents down in TX once in awhile and come back to Michigan,it's almost like i can instantly feel the unhappiness here. After awhile the feeling goes away until you go back to another state and realize you don't want to go back to Michigan....LOL

I was born and raised in #1 and now live in #3. I'am happy ;D Btw it's sunny and 68 ouside :)

Probably because they don't know there is better out there!

I am surprised that California, New York, and New Jersey are on the bottom.

Great to be a Tennessean!

I can believe New Jersey is but California? I can see where some parts wouldn't be the greatest place to live but majority of what I've been to was pretty nice.

this is inaccurate. no way mississippi is the #6 happiest state. its flat and hot here. who gets happy cause of flat and hot? people say its charming here, i think theyre delusional >:(

i was thinking disparity of wealth might be involved also.

People SHOULD be happy in Florida, since it's only a hop, skip and a jump from Haiti and Cuba. Welcome to America.
