Big 10

Featured Replies

Well all year everyone talked about how it was such a weak conference but apparently after a few bowl games the big 10 is looking pretty strong.  Would be looking even better had NW kicker not been hurt but LSU and Oregon have had better days.

Despite the Northwestern game outcome, I thought the Big-10 looked pretty good, for the first time in a few years!

Iowa played a great game. I thought that busted fake field goal was going to haunt them but they came right back with a TD on their next drive to seal the deal. GT wasn't GT tonight but Iowa had a lot to do with that too.

Good job Iowa. Good win.

Conference Bowl Records

SEC: 10 teams 5-4 record

Big 12: 8 teams 4-3 record

Big Ten: 7 teams 4-3 record

ACC: 7 teams 3-4 record

PAC 10: 7 teams 2-5 record

Big East: 6 teams 4-2 record

Conference USA: 6 teams 2-4 record

MAC: 5 teams 0-5 record

MWC: 4 teams 2-2 record

Sun Belt: 2 teams 1-0 record

Independent: 1 team 1-0 record

Well the Big Ten did nail down the number three spot ;)

Catt,

Here's another way to look at it:

The top 4 teams in the Big 10 all won thier bowl games, and all beat higher ranked opponents. This includes two BCS bowl wins. For Big 10 fans this is big step forward.

:)

And all three teams from the Big Ten that lost had an opportunity to win those games.  MSU was the worst loss and they played without 14 of their players.  Not too bad for league that went 1-6 the previous year.  If Northwestern had won instead of that stupid fake punt thing and Minnesota would have won that is now a 6-1 record.  I know speculation is worth nothing, but a great improvement from a conference nobody had any repsect for.  I would say the SEC took a step back this year looking at their record and the Big 12 held about the same.

Your math is also inconclusive because the SEC and BIG 12 both have a game left and both teams cannot win so one League will end up with a .500 record in bowl games which in percentages is a lower average than the Big 10's 4-3 record.  ::)

The SEC and BIG 12 are in the National Championship game while the Big 10 wasn't close.

Hey y'all did move up to #3  ;)

4-1 is more impressive to me than 6-4....but I don't put too much stock into conference bowl comparisons by overall wins/losses because it's not like every conference plays a bowl schedule that is comparable to other conferences...
