Whelp, I do :-[

It's a temporay paralysis of facial muscles on one side of the face caused by swelling of the facial nerve.

It's thought to be caused by viral infections. In my case, my ear and surrounding area is infected.

It's brought on by having a recent prior cold or flu (which I did), stress, sometimes weather elements, all of which I have had in the past week.

In my case it's only partial, like I got a shot if novacain (sp?) at the dentist. I'll be on a few meds for awhile. Can take a little a couple weeks to clear, could take 2-3 months.

On a side note, It is kinda funny to see me try to smile, even funnier to see me try to spit

I saw it while I was in the Air Force.  Some people get total paralysis.  It was temporary and it slowly went from partial to total and then the other way.  Very odd to watch.

A girl in my freshman writing class had it. She said she got it from sleeping with a fan aimed at here face in her dorm room. It was a shame because she was a pretty good looking girl and it made the one half of her face look like it was trying to slide down to the floor.

We had Stacy Twiggs the B.A.S.S. Youth Director stay with us a few years back and he had it for a short time. Very sad to see, thankfully it goes away. Besides what you said I thought extreme stress and blood pressure can do it.  :-/

About 6 months ago i was trying to drink and i could not keep the water from spilling out of my mouth. Novocain was exactly what it felt like, the whole right side of my face was paralyzed. The next day i went to the doctor, he prescribed me medicine to take and told me no lifting or stressful situations. Almost a month later i woke up and it was gone. I was lucky, and hope the same to you.

My ex father-in-law had a permanent case. A friend of mine had it and recovered. Wish you the best with yours.

Glad to see your keeping a sense of humor bassnleo.  FWIW, my cousin's boyfriend had a total recovery time of less than a month.

My dad had it, and they gave him Valtrex(which is a common treatment for Bells Palsy) to treat it. I didn't know what they gave him at the time. I was visiting their house and saw it on the the counter. I flipped out asking him how he got herpes, and if he knowingly gave it to my mom? Man I'm glad my mom was home to explain why he had that med. I almost hurt my hand with his face. After she told me, I took him out for beers and all was well. And his face went back to normal after about a month. Hope you get well soon.

You have no idea how I wish I could. I'm fortunate, my dept is allowing me to work limited duty. In other words, I go to work but do stuff around the station, and there is plenty to do.

The alternative would be to burn my accumulated sick time, not exactly what I chose to do when I am capable of doing something.

But I do have two new Kistler Z-Bone rods I'd love to try out

Thanks to everyone else on the best wishes. From eveything I read, it appears that I should make a full recovery but it may take a little time and patience.

It's still funny to try and spit after I brush my teeth, anyone got a bib?

I had a guy hit me beside the head one time and I had it for about two weeks. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

I did have it about 30 years ago. Doctor treated it with steroids. Recovered in about 3 weeks. Good luck with your case.
