Ordered a couple of new 9mms on Tuesday and picked them up tonight.  Got a Sig Sauer P229R and a CZ75B.  Can't wait to get out and put some rounds through them.

CZs are fantastic guns.  You are right - a heckuva lotta gun for the money.

The CZ in the picture is my 3rd CZ.  I have a CZ83 .380 and another CZ75B - the Compact in 9mm.   The CZ75s, and all CZs, are exceptionally well built and are as close to ergonomically perfect as it gets.

Nice pistols!  I've never shot a CZ pistol or seen any for sale around here but I use to really want one of the CZ .17 caliber varmint rifles.

I'm curious about that, because in VA you can't buy more than one handgun within 30 days without an exception. How'd you manage that Rowland?

Concealed Handgun Permit holders are exempted from the 1-gun-per-month limitation. I have one.  CHP holders can buy as many handguns at once as they can afford.  Unfortunately, I think I've reached my limit for awhile  >.

ahh, gotcha. I started reading the exemptions and most had to do with LEOs or lost guns so I stopped reading.

Definitely nice having the conceal carry permit. I got one in NC and it makes buying firearms extremely easy. All you got to do is put up with a background check and getting fingerprinted and in return, you get to buy firearms without a hassle.

One of the reasons I got a permit was so that I would have more options on transporting my handguns.  At the time I got it, you had to leave the gun out in view if you didn't have a permit.  That means on the dashboard or on the seat beside you.  Now I think Virginia has amended their laws to allow handgun owners without CHPs to put them in their glove compartments. 

Sigs are great guns, carried a P-226 for twenty years. I got a P-229 the year before I retired through the dept. for $400. My eyes bugged out when I saw their price at bass pro the other day. I always wanted a Bren Ten designed after the CZ, back in the Miami Vice day!

Virginia is very firearms-friendly.  The one-handgun-per-month scheme is about our worst restriction and was implemented to appease our northern neighbor states who blame all their crime woes on the rights Virginians enjoy. 

BTW, you can buy all the long guns you want at once in Virginia. 

Virginia is a "shall issue" state with respect to CHPs.  Meaning if you pass a criminal background check and take a safety course, your locality MUST issue a CHP to you.   And the state restricts how many hoops a locality can make you jump through, or how much they can charge, to get one.  Once you have one, its good for 5 years, you can renew by mail, and exempts you from the one-gun-per-month restriction.

Virginia lawmakers are increasingly voicing their desire to eliminate the one-gun-per-month law.

Virginia allows you to take them online, too.

The one thing that I dislike about Virginia is the state form they make you fill out in ADDITION to the federal 4473. It also adds a requirement for a second form of ID at the time of purchase that none of our surrounding states require. As a dealer, it makes things a lot more complicated for our customers (and me for that matter)

I believe that once you are 18, they do not require you to have it.  You can just show up with a driver's license and purchase one.

On your other post, we also fill out an additional form whenever someone purchases a handgun (one form for each pistol). We call it the PSP (PA State Police) form as it is sent to them after the sale.

Yeah, that's similar to our VA form except we have to do it for all guns.

Nice looking weapons there.  I've fired a number of different 38's, 9mm, and 45's, but not those.  I've been contemplating getting a CHP and a 9mm. Recent events have pushed me into going ahead with it.

Good form Glenn. You can't go wrong. I can also honestly say with the NC mandated course for CCW, I learned some very useful info. It was a good requirement. Just wish the course was cheaper so some of those less fortunate than myself could take it.
