I just ordered refill kits online (InkTec kits through Amazon) for the first time. Anyone here do the same ?

I've never bought a re-fill kit let me know how it goes.

I've gotten them re-filled at Walgreens before if I remember right. Had mixed results mainly ok but 1 no go if I remember right. I might try them again.

When you buy cartridges they charge something like $8000 per gallon for ink. Forget the oil business, I'm gonna try me some drilling for ink!

The biggest concern with using the kits is the ink the printer manufacture uses is made to worth with their printers. Things such as lubrication, thickness of the ink. Refilling with other ink may not work as well and may harm the printer.

Point taken. The printer is a basic HP that was around $100 new, probably $85 now. The majority of printing done is school papers using black ink. We don't print photos at home and rarely print color images. I won't cry over a cheap printer if this doesn't go well.

Some of the printer cartridges will not let you refill them. When you put them back in the printer it still says empty. Usually the ones with chips on them.

you can refill them but the printer only recognizes them as empty, so you don't know your out of ink until, your out of ink.

I just got done doing my black and tri color cartridges. Everything went well. At the absolute minimum, I'll get up to 5 refills. After 2 refills, the kits will have paid for themselves.

I printed out several test pages in color and black. I can't tell any difference in print quality from new cartridges.

One thing with these kits, you have to follow the instructions to the letter.

i think the cartridges for my epson printer are something like 5 or 6 dollars. others are like 30!

A black cartridge for my HP is around $15, the color one is about $20. It was $29 (shipping included) for the kits.

I got a notice a little over a month ago about a class action lawsuit settlement involving owners of HP printers. Basically it said HP was guilty of rigging the software to prematurely warn users of low ink levels to get them to buy cartridges sooner than needed. The settlement was a coupon or discount toward the purchase of HP accessories. I opted to screw them back by refilling their cartridges multiple times. Hit 'em in the wallet, it's the only language they speak.
