Dying Black Birds in Arkansas?

Recommended Posts

Ok, these scientists believe that the birds died from trauma due to new years eve fireworks. They say there is no link to the fish kill on Arkansas river. I completely disagree with this claim for the reasons that it is not known to have happened before and the same species of bird was killed. As a bassfisherman, I have witnessed more "Red" winged black birds next to the water than any other bird while fishing. If thousands of fish had died, there would have been many insects eating on the fish. This leads me to believe that the birds could have eaten some of the insects and later become sick. As a duckhunter i understand that the birds found in Ark. and Southern LA were in the same flyway for migratory birds. I believe that the birds found in Louisiana were from the same flock of birds found in Arkansas, they only made it a little further south than the others. This is my opinion I'd like to "seriously" know some of yours.

I'm not aware of a fish kill but the fact that the birds all dropped at the same time, to me, makes the trauma theory believable. Whether it was fireworks, or powerlines, or whatever. This time of year the birds get in flocks of millions to keep warm and provide protection from predators. If they were roosting on the ground and a predator or fireworks spooked them and the birds ran into powerlines or something else(birds don't fly at night because they can't see well in the dark) seems alot more plausible than eating bad bugs.

The thing is, they did not drop just all at once. Over a period of time more or less. The reason i dont think it is trauma is becasue they fell from the sky....Which would make it so it would show signs of trauma, am i right? And seriously, if these birds died of "fireworks" wouldn't that happen much more. If fireworks trauma is possible, why dont we see like 100000 birds just drop on the 4th of July. Mmmmmmm...somthing smells a little fishy about this whole thing. OH WAIT, 100,000 dead freshwater drum...

Ok well I am pretty sure that people were inside their homes by about 2 o'clock on the day that the birds fell in Ark. because they were under multiple tornado warnings and I don't know why anyone would be watching for falling Red wing black birds from their windows. Ok the next problem with the firework explanation is the reason of why are they finding one particular species, The "RED" winged black bird. Idk about where you are from but there are alot more regular black birds than their are RED winged black birds. And if it were fireworks than why hasn't this happened before and why didn't it happen in a location with a great population of people. I'm pretty sure they didn't just shoot up the sky in some rinky dink country town in Arkansas. Just think about it. It's highly unlikely.

As for the fish kill, haven't they all been freshwater drum so far too?  Mainly a crawfish eater.

The type of fish doesn't matter does it. They all decompose the same way and insects aren't picky about what they eat. Just saying that it is an odd coincidence that I'm not saying is facts but the fact that one particular species of bird has fell from the sky in two locations of the United States is very scary and I seriously doubt it was fireworks.

The reports I heard said approx 6000 birds dropped from the sky and it sounded like hail hitting the ground. I had also herd there were either municipal or private fireworks being blown off. As I stated in my original post, millions of birds are roosting together to keep warm this time of year. This does not happen during the summer because of the warm weather.

Or it could be the begining of the Rapture  :-/

My apologies. Miss understood your post.  I thought you were saying the fish and birds may have eaten the same thing (insects).  Drum are not a species I think of to often for picking bugs and larvae off the service.  More of a bottom feeder.

They just found more in Maryland and New Zealand....

I think it's because this weather is changing so quickly... First it's warm for a few days, then its dropping 20 degrees+ for a week or so... Probably screwing with the wildlife... but what do I know?

I also thought I read somewhere that sometimes animals commit suicide im mass numbers to control population.

I may be wrong though.

This is what I believe is  the reason for everything dying off in mass numbers. I believe that our government is involved with all of these mass deaths. No matter what the reason is as to why this is happening, it is still scary.

Not gonna get into it for there is no discussion of politics or watever ::)

Anyways, mass die offs of fish i know are not unusual, and i did look at the list of mass die offs. Did not know that.

The main theory seems to be that the deaths are coming from fireworks (did they get directly hit?), while the bird were flying.....at night, which they do not do. Because black birds are not nocturnal. So even if they roost together in the winter in large numbers. why dont lots of birds die on 4th of July, just scattered around all over the place instead of one place?

Here is my reasoning as to why I believe the Gov't is hiding something from us...

Red Winged black birds aren't as common as a regular black bird. Most of the time they are grouped together with regular black birds. The only problem with these birds dying wasw that almost all of the birds that died were red winged black birds. The scientists say that the reason they died was because the fireworks on New Years Eve disoriented the birds and they died from trauma. The 1st case happened on New Years Eve as people were out partying. This makes their reason sound plausible, but I have never seen or heard of black birds dying on July 4th when more people are shooting off fireworks. Also there was another case in Louisiana a couple days after the new year. I wouldn't think that a black bird would stay disoriented for days at a time. None of the reports of the black birds dying makes sense to me. Something just isn't right about these reports. This is the reason as to why I believe the Gov't is hiding the truth from us.
