Pretty much a blizzard here right now.

We're getting sleet and light snow right now.  The radar shows it pushing into the area.  The weatherman says about 3 pm is when the heavy stuff should start coming down.

It hardly ever fails, when we get bad weather the first vehicles I see spin out or wreck are 4x4's. Especially ones which switch between 2wd and 4wd.

ohh really? My Q7 is awesome, she has never seem ice or snow...LOL

HELP.

Can't see my truck ;)

Interesting drive home.  Drifts so high on main roads my 4runner was literally plowing through them.  Nobody was really obeying traffic lights or lanes.  Abandoned cars everywhere.

2" on the ground and coming down hard. The commute was awful. I had a Ford Explorer blow by me at about 60 while myself and everyone else was doing about 35-40, about 3 minutes later I had to stop as the same Explorer on its' side with the guy crawling out of the sunroof. dummy....

Oh man, I love that. I keep moving in the snow, but I have a 4x4 pickup - much different than a heavy SUV. All the 4wd in an SUV does is get you up your driveway. Ford Exploders are the worst offenders, too, LOL.

LOL just started to get nasty here... 3 accidents already and the school zone looked like a polar DMZ.

Stay calm people. :D

I'd rather have the SUV actually, pickups are too light in the rear to get good traction. I feel like I shouldn't have to put the car in 4x4 just to back down the driveway without spinning the wheels because of a little snow or ice, and in my mom's Explorer I don't. Can't say the same for either of my dad's pickups ('98 f-150 and 2011 Silverado). That said, I'll take my AWD Subaru in the snow over any of them.

Here where I live: somewhere between 14-18 inches is what I have been hearing, with some where around 40 mph winds.

Another note, Michigan State University is having their first snowday in 30 years. Crazy

Just keep a ton of snow in the back to weigh it down. Helps me out.

Yeah, I have an Exploder as I call them. For me, great in the snow, but no traction control makes it rough (1995). Any pictures of the snow anyone?

I want to see the 25ft waves they are calling for on Lake Michigan. Anyone up for some smallies?

Maybe I'll see something on my train ride home from school.

I got my boat and a new reel to try will meet you at the docks in 2 hrs ;D

I have both a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Dodge Durango.

I have never stuck the Jeep in anything. Its 4wd as needed.

The Durango is AWD but put it in 4 lock and it goes anywhere. But cautious driving and sensible speed are also the rule.

Here in Iowa, there was a car stuck in the road on a drift in town.  I drove 30 MPH on my 1.5 mile trek home, and felt dangerous.  The winds are terrible and I have no clue how much snow we have but there was about 2 ft in front of my back door.

And tomorrow is suppose to be worse. ::)

4wd don't really help you if it pure solid ice over the entire road..Best bet is to get chain...

Well not the best picture but I got it when I shoveled the dogs a path. Little hard to tell but about 12 inches with a little drifting. There are drifts by the garage that'd I'd say are getting close to 4ft.

We lucked out in Virginia.

Supposed to be around 67* today and then drop like an anchor for the rest of the week into the 40's.

Sorry for your guys that got clobbered.

Everyone be safe and stay inside. Not worth risking life and limb trying to maneuver around snow and ice.  :)

I almost took a job in Woodridge Ill earlier this month, now with this storm really glad I did not.  Plus, I get to stay in my hometown now.

3-4" of snow and sleet on the roadways, slowly changing to sleet and freezing rain. Every school in the state is closed except mine. Guess I will be taking my own snow day. lol

Highway 70 is closed between Kansas City and Foristell, MO. I have heard reports that LOZ got 21" of snow. Luckily we just got about 2"-3" of sleet and about 1"-2" of snow.

I don't have those issues with my Sierra. Maybe its the tires? More weight = greater stopping distance.
