That was fun teaching him. Throw a couple of cheerios in the toilet and show him how to aim for them.  They love it! ;D

Bribing him with M&Ms seems to be helping.

My 19 month old pays attention to her big sis and has used the potty a little. Yesterday she decided to pull her pull up down and use the rocking chair though.

My youngest tried to pop the bubbles in the toilet with his finger...while I was still in the process of making them.  ;D

We bribed my son with Skittles. One for going number one, and two for going number two. Once in a while i woulb throw in a new Star Wars figure as well to keep it interesting. It was relatively painless.

I used M&M's.  Same principle.  Minus the star wars figure.  Was pain free and quick.  Both of my daughters were basically potty trained before they turned three.  The only drawback is that they both love chocolate now.  I can still bribe them with M&M's to get stuff done around the house even when they don't want to do chores.  It's fantastic.

Just a few more years until a couple of pieces of candy will have them cutting the yard and trimming all the hedges/bushes around the house.

i gotta get my son potty trained soon to hes 20mo and got hopefuly a little sister on the way want to get 1 trained befor the other arrives. but bribing my son dont work he just grabs the candy and runs to the couch and says " nnooooooo mine" well laughing and playing a game of keep away as if id take his candy or toy

It's not really very hard. If you feed him on a regular schedule, wait 20 minutes after he eats, get him a book or a toy and set him on the potty. Don't let him up until he goes. He will quickly figure out that the sooner he goes, the sooner he gets off the pot. He will also figure out the eating/potty connection. This will require a little effort on your part, but should only take a day or two for him to get it. Talk to him and repeat over and over, "if you go potty, you can go back to cartoons or whatever he was doing. Consistency is the key. BTW, if you bribe him to go to the potty, you will likely wind up bribing him for everything. That is a bad pattern to develop. JMHO

Maybe you could just hook a wet/dry vac to his diaper and fire it up every time your boy gets that "look" on his face.

That's ok. Last night he was standing in the hallway with no diaper on telling us he needed to go poo. Just at that moment, what appeared to be an 8 inch black slug crawled down his leg and landed on the floor. Thank goodness for hardwood.
