Blazing Saddles (watch after Unforgiven-it is not real happy movie)

FWIW Lonesome Dove is my favorite western of all time.

Unforgiven!  My wife had to pick a western to watch in Film class, I helped her pick this one, we watched it and I helped her write her paper and the teacher was blown away.  Ha Ha.

yeah this is a good one. i've seen it before, along with several others mentioned.

I personally am a fan of anything with Clint Eastwood.   There is one film that I love that wasn't on there that I am particulat to.  The son's of Katie Elder (spelling) with John Wayne.  I love that movie.

High Noon, if you like old school.

These are all classics. The more action oriented will be the Wild Bunch, Butch Cassidy, Cowboys, and the Searchers.

Try Two Rode Together, Duel at Diablo, and the Comancheros. These weren't on the list but great movies. Any on the list that have John Wayne are great westerns, but the best ones with John Wayne are The Searchers, Red River, and Rio Bravo.

Note: Treasuer of the Sierra Madre really isnt a western. Sorry to get technical, but just wanted to point that out.

If you haven't seen the Deadwood series, you're missing out.

It is definitely NOT for the easily offended.

Also, Tombstone should be on the list.

The Sergio Leone "spaghetti western" trilogy

Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is excellent.

Others that are not exactly westerns but influenced westerns heavilythat are worth checking out would be the Kurosawa "Samurai" films.  Start with The Seven Samurai and then watch the Magnificent Seven.

i wish tombstone was on the list, i really want to see that one

The Wild Bunch. If you like graphic violence, this one is for you. Awesome cast. Several Oscar nominations and controversial when released for the violence. Ernest Borgnine is a tough guy's tough guy.

Can't go wrong with any of the Clint flicks. Tossup between Outlaw Josey Wales and Unforgiven.

I know this isn't on the list, but Jerimiah Johnson has to be one of the best westerns I have ever seen.
