I am going to a resort/campground next weekend in N. Georgia.  They have a private lake I can fish for trout.  Anyone have any tips or suggestions for lures or bait?

Id suggest getting some of that powerbait dough stuff. Rig it on a carolina rig type thing. My favorites are Lime Twist and orange.

Floating and Countdown Rapalas (rainbow trout pattern) are killer! I would also recommend a couple of Panther Martins (1/8 or 1/4 oz, gold spinner, black body with chartreuse spots).

Ok gotta say my judgment is biased somehow.

French pride ! Well Mepps is no longer french for that matter.... But still a very effective in-line spinner.

Give the LC bevy minnow and the Smith Camion a try (but they are expensive).

Countdowns are great, as are the UL size original floaters and husky jerks. I use alot of small shad style plastics(bright colors) with a 1/16 to 1/8oz ball jighead. One of the best ways to catch trout on spinning tackle is the Float and Fly method. You use one of the adjust-a-bubble floats(for casting weight) and any number of traditional trout flies(dry flies are my best producers). I have fished N.Georgia trout many times with fly-fishing and spinning tackle, the spinning float and fly method always catches more fish for me.

Good call on the Panther Martins! Get gold and silver. If you still get no bites, throw a small dillie on the hook too (mostly for scent). Work the pools and calmer waters. Slow, bouncing retrieves near bottom. If you are catching and releasing, make sure you wet your hands before you handle the fish. If you plan on eating them, PM me and I'll tell you exactly what to do to have everyone thinking you're a GOD!
