Soft Bait Help

Featured Replies

Alright, im relativly new to hardcore bass fishing, and im especially new to soft plastics. Im going up to my cabin this week, so i want to know the best brands, and types. And if you have enough time could you give me some tips on how to fish them for the best results? ;)

Senkos work really good. You can try it in the Watermelon w/ Black flakes. Texas Rig it on a 5/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook, or wacky rig it.

I just got back into fishing after a long time off.  The articles on this site are a good place to start, especially if your not sure of terminology or fishing methods.  I'd go with Senko's or other stickbaits, texas or wacky rigged weightless.  A good size grub, double or twirl tailed on a jighead.  Flukes or Bass Assassin shads fished with or without weight.  Some type of worm (I like zoom trick worms and powerworms thus far).  Can't go wrong with those four to start.

I just replied to CRF with this, I'm real fond of Zoom Brush Hogs and Baby Brush Hogs in green pumkin. T-rigged with 1/8 or 3/16 oz weight and usually just a slow drag on bottom. Throw them into brush piles, downed trees or any place you think Mr Bass is hideing ;)...

One word for newbie's ZOOM  ;)

try this: carolina rig a 3.5 inch rattlesnake tube. for the hook, use a hook that has a metal weed guard. rig it so that both the hook and weed guard are exposed, but the eye of the hook stays inside the bait. after you've done that, go get some "fish pills." these are little spherical styrofoam thingies that are primarily used for steelhead. they are unscented. place them in the tube from the back. this will cause the bait to float off the bottom so you can fish JUST off the bottom. this would also work for topwater fishing. tubes are one of the most versatile baits. you can also try to soak some cotton from a cotton ball in some fish attractant and put that in the tube. this'll release the scent slowly over time. enjoy! oh, and senkos are magic too. fish them WEIGHTLESS. my fav is purple w/ green flakes.

Two words: RAGE TAIL

They make some great soft plastics that can be used top water or you can put a weight in front of them and run them sub-surface. You can read all about them and see a video of them at www.ragetail.com they have produced a lot of bass for me.

To Rondef...

When i go to the ragetail site, and click on products.... out of those 4 are there any youd recommend over the others?

Where do I go to purchase Rage Tail products? When I click on the site I dont see any location to purchase baits.

Sorry guys, the Rage Tail website is for Product and Product Use information only....

You can find these baits at most all of the major retailers and internet sites. BPS Cabelas, Academy, Dick's, Wal Marts and Tackle Warehouse etc.

The four baits presently on the market are the Rage Shad, Toads, Craws and Chunks. You can view them on the Website product pages and there are video clips of the action.

Hope you like'em as much as I do designing them...
