Fly in trip for pike

Featured Replies

Hey guys, Im planning on taking a trip to one of those fly in camps in canada to catch northern pike. Ive been researching them on the web. I was just wonder if anyone has any recomendations?

I did one in the summer of 09 with AirMelancon.  I don't have anything to compare it too, but I thought it was great.

While it's quite a drive to get to their HQ, like 8 hours from The Soo, these are the folks I've been most impressed with.

George & Jeanne Theriault are fantastic hosts.

You could also look around your area for a boat, sport, fishing show this winter.  Many times they will have a number of Canadian outfitters attending.

BTW, if you can find a copy of this, George Sr. wrote a really interesting book called "Trespassing in God's Country".  Many stories from his youth and through his days as a bush pilot 1920's to the 1980's.  It's a book you'll read more than once.

Lakers Unlimited on lake athabasca northern Saskatchewan. 2nd  choice would be taltson bay big pike lodge on the taltson river off great slave lake. These are locations for trophy pike with numbers if that is what you are looking for. PM me for details.

You'll be amazed at how well different artificial baits work.  It's a lot of fun.  We had a walleye on a stringer when we felt the boat tug.  There was a northern continuously tugging on the stringered fish till we pulled the stringer up!

You'll be spoiled for life.

check out Hatchett Lake in

Saskatchewan.  Pike, walleye. lakers, and more.  Shore lunch everyday and great dinners at night.  You will not forget it. ;)

The answer would depend on the province you had in mind

and whether you're interested in drive-to, boat-to or fly-in.

If you're interested in drive-to water in Ontario,

I'd definitely give the nod to Lac Seul (Mahkwa Lodge).
