American Bass Anglers

How could you put up with a bunch of drunks? You pay to fish the tournament and have to put up with a bunch of drunks. In a dry county and a complaint someone should have been locked up.

on top of that. that night they threw all there beer bottles in a guys boat when the cops came. boy was he mad.

First let me thank Matt Fly for the kind words. As with any organization you will have a few bad apples. I can't speak for them but I can say the organization is better run now then under past leadership. It is unfortunate that some of you have had bad experiences with ABA, but those examples are IMO very few and far between. If any of you would like to see the other side of ABA and are in the Texas area stop by any of our district tournaments. I think you will see the true spirit of the organization.

Thanks for your time.

True spirit? I watch district directors weigh in 11 1/2 inchers all year!  Who is gonna measure them ?  Nobody. Give me a break!

Well then I guess it would be better for you to fish with another organization. If it was me and a director was cheating I would be posting on the ABA board so someone who could fix it would see it.

Good luck in your future fishing endevours

Hey,

What's with all the negative comments about ABA by NITRO.  Seems as though he's one of those so called whinners/complainers.  Does he ever post anything positive?  I'd be carefull if I were him in posting untruths about an organization or individual.  There just might be justification for a slander/liable suit in the making.  I've seen his post on the ABA board and in my opinion he's one who is just trying to demean ABA and it's members.  I for one think he should move on to another circuit if he's not happy and stop the complaining.  ABA is a fine orgainzation and has really grown in the last few years and is fast becoming the trail sought out by all dedicated bass fisher persons who don't have the finances or time to fish the majors.  Don't let the comments from one disgruntled anglers sway you away from ABA, check it out yourself.

Hey Purple Fox, the legal term is libel. The real world is light years apart from the theoretical. In this case, do you have any conceptual idea how difficult and expensive it would be? I doubt that Nitro is 'skeared'. Plus, I don't think ABA has pockets that deep. Also, I don't think they want the adverse publicity. Besides, what's wrong with some spirited debate about the pro's/con's of an organization?

From what I see, ABA is trying to make it to the big time. It's a lot like that old saying, "it ain't bragging if you can do it". In the legal world, truth is a defense. Who knows what he may have to prove the truth of the matter. Particularly if he has proof of a drunk director... Does ABA really want to bring that to light? If I were the director about whom he is referring, I wouldn't even take a dose of cough syrup the night before a tournament for fear that he was in the room above, taking pictures.

He doesn't sound like a complainer as much as he sounds like someone who is absolutely disappointed in an organization. As for finances and fishing the majors, the expense of fishing a single ABA weekend tournament is NOT that far from fishing one of the FLW/Stren/BFL tournaments.

Hey texasbass1, we meet again...

As a "guest" on the aba board, I have been reading posts and then all of a sudden, they disappear.  Select threads from specific individuals are...poooooof.....gone.    If it were the Soviet Union, I could understand it.  Unlike this forum, freedom of expression doesn't seem to have a place.  Or am I wrong?

I saw a post by him and all he did was ask a question and was kicked around like a rag doll. You must be who ever he is talking about seeing as how fast you got defencive about the subject.(Drunk Directors) but that is your problem. I for one find it good to hear the bad as well as the good that way I can make my mind up ,not have someone make it up for me.I see all over the ABA board where Dist. Directors tell people all the time to go fish somewhere else,Maby they don't like the the old way of thinking, sooner or later the old get's replaced with the new, How old are you? 8-)

Have no idea what age has to do with it but 46.  Have heard alot about this guy from very reliable sources and his constant complaining and negative attitude.  Just hope he doesn't show up at any of the tournaments I fish - don't think he'd be very welcome.

Now can we go fish?

The only posts I have noticed being deleted are those that the discussions went from spirited to vulgar. I have been guilty of suggesting that if an angler is so disappointed with ABA that they may want to go fish somewhere else, my rational is that if you aren't happy why try and make everyone else unhappy as well. I for one have fished a number of tournament trails and have found they all have their faults. My position is if I don't like something about a trail I don't fish it again, but I don't go out complaining to the world. I guess I'm just one of the quiet minority. I'm sure this will raise a few hackles, but that's the way it goes.

Purple Fox... you registered today...all your posts are attacking Nitro...are you a forum troll...or are you making him out to look like one? Give him a break! Discuss the issues, not the person. What about the person who mentioned about weighing in short fish? You said nothing about that individual.

texasbass1, Understood. We all get keyed up, defensive, call it what you like. There's no need to make disparaging remarks or provide illustrations, although I could on both counts. My point is that the moderators in this forum seem to be more tolerant of diverse opinions...including the likes of us. :) And quiet minority... ;D nice try. You're anything but quiet and certainly not the minority. That's ok, too. Hang in there, maybe you'll make the ABA Hall of Fame.
