wondering what everyones fall tactics are. and if u have any secrets or tips.  i personally find fall to be the best time for me with senkos, jigs, and slow working lures for the fact bass are all looking to fill there bellys for winter.  wonder how everyone else does it.

Last fall I caught my PB (avatar pic) on a white spinner bait, I was also pounding them with a swim senko

Burning, burning, burning!!!!  Cant beat a spinner bait zipping right under the surface in the back of a cove. I'll also burn lipless cranks.  If that dont get 'em ill burn a storm kicking minnow.

I don't know if its Fall yet but the fish were all over my spinnerbait today (at least the dinks were...)  :-/

I like throwing large deep crank baits. I also grab a spinnerbait and slow roll it along the bottom until it hits weeds and then I will burn it really fast and then just stop..... wait about 5 secs and start slow rolling it again. I will always get a good reaction off this method.

For me, real fall fishing does not start until mid to late October here in Indiana.  

I will always start shallow and progress deeper with crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs and the Crig.

Also, as the water cools, most of my crankbaits are thinner with tighter vibrations.  Baits like a Little John, Norman Thin N and LC Flat CB MR all work very well for me in the fall.

With spinnerbaits, its all about the speed, so for faster retrieves I will start with double willows, progress down through tandem colorado/willow or colorado/indiana and then to a single blade colorado when I want a slow rolled approach.  Head size is by depth.  Shallow, 1/4 and 3/8 normally, slightly deeper 1/2 and 5/8, deeper 3/4 and 1 oz..  

For fishing around the bottom OR swimming through cover, the jig has been my best bait in the fall.

Also, I will always have a topwater bait tied on for when schooling fish get on shad and I will also have a Crig in the boat as that is something that can catch fish year round as well and has bailed me out when all the other stuff I tried has failed.

Main lake points, secondary points, & mouths of feeder creeks; later in the fall move to the backs of creeks.

Priority #1 in the fall for me is to find the shad. I wont make a cast until I've seen a good population of shad in an area. The bass will be in close proximity to the schools of bait. The schools of bait will often be out in the middle of a deep creek, out in the main lake or in coves, just hanging over deep water. The key is to try to pinpoint the depth of the bait schools and fish that area or right around it. Keep changing baits until you get bit but stay in that depth zone and close to the shad.

If the shad are somewhat shallow you can just burn down the bank fishing whatever cover you can find. This method gets better/easier as the shad move further into the creeks. Once they get all the way back its a free-for-all.
