TRICK STICKS ( Senkos) Finesse ?????

Hey Fellas: I keep reading here where people talk about DeadSticking as a Finesse Bait. I don't look at them as finesse. This seems to be prevalant on Threads about trhowing smaller baits with Bait Casting Equipment.

I throw throw them with BC equipment and they cast like rockets and seem to weigh a whole lot more than even a regular 10 inch plasti worm

Just wondering if uyou see them as a Finesse Bait?

ya i agree i don't see them as a finesse bait.

And they do seem to cast as if they were weighted heavy

Yes to casting like a rocket!  ;D ;D

As far as being a finesse bait, i'm not sure. I have caught fish working them slow, almost deadsticking them, and also caught fish dropping them in structure ( fallen trees, brush) around the bank, just drop and pull out. I kinda think of them as a really versatile bait. I just fish them how the fish want them.

To me it would depend on the size of the Senko/Trick Stick.  A 3" Trick Stick yes, finesse, a 5" no, not finesse, however, fishing them weightless, and weedless, I have found a new fishing technique for me anyway.  I got a ride last weekend on a buddies boat.  Went to a lake full of grass.  Everywhere there was a hole in the grass, I would drop the Trick Stick in, and let it sink.  Almost had the rod jerked out of my hands a couple of times.... it was great!!!!!

Hey Fishbear: Up here in the North East, on Natural Lakes; Grassy Flats are the ticket most of the time 8-)

Well, I am learning to fish thick grass.  Living here in Ga. and fishing Gin Clear drinking resevoirs, there is usually not a lot of grass to fight with... this lake however, is full of it.  Water is 12-15 ft. deep with 6-10 ft. of grass across the entire lake.  The only "clear" area is the creek channel thru the middle.

I actually got a bite on a jig that same day, however, was not fast enough to set the hook, and missed  :-[ :-/ :'(

In the grass I use either Charlie Brewer Slider heads or Lucky Strike Finesse jig heads. I put a 3.5 or 6 inch Brush Bug ( From ***) and spray em with a mixture of Anise and Mineral oil. The grass doesnt stick to them and my hook ups increased a lot

Many anglers think of finesse fishing as using small lures with light lines but to me finesse fishing is by definition of the word.

Finesse

Refinement and delicacy of performance, execution, or artisanship.

Skillful, subtle handling of a situation; tactful, diplomatic maneuvering.

I finesse fish with power baits such as Texas Rigs & Jig-N-Craws or in your case Senko type baits.

19 inches!

You have 19 inches!  Of worm!

That is not finesse fishing in my book but why not?

If it works then use it for as long as you can.  ;D

This wouldn't happen to be the lower lake at Tribble, would it?
