  1. Thanks for that link Roadwarrior! Now that I think about it, "in the water" does seem more appropriate. The original is just something I heard from a friend while getting skunked one day. Good one nern!
  2. Lol. Anyone else got a fishing joke to share?
  3. "Ohhh yeahhh!" (Snap into a Slim Jim!) ;D
  4. Fishing in the wind (or other unfavorable conditions) for a chance to win money and fishing in the wind with no chance to make money are two different things, I think. I hate the wind.
  5. Night crawlers work. Chicken liver or gizzards work. But, if you want to go the cheap route get yourself a package of hot dogs and tear them into bite size chunks, C-Rigged. Works for me every time! I've even caught a bass at night on a hot dog! Crazy, I know. Good luck! BTW.. bull heads are pretty tasty little fish!
  6. That bass is hand painted?! Holy S!@$! Incredible skill you have, man.
  7. That swimbait is freakin awesome! Did you hand engrave the scales into it? The craw is really nice too.
  8. Are you lipping that thing? lol. Nice catch man!
  9. Awesome. Bait monkey says I need to pick up his space monkey friends now! ;D
  10. Your theory may have some truth to it. I overheard an older fisherman at a local tournament saying the bite was slow last weekend because of the mayflies and the bass feeding all night but, who knows. Kind of makes sense to me but, it could be a number of other reasons also.
  11. How do you guys fish the space monkeys? T-rigged, as a trailer, or ?
  12. Oh yeah, I know color is dependant on water clarity, weather, and what not but, feel free to mention it!
  13. For me, it's senkos (surprise!). Just interested in seeing what's working for everyone else.
  14. Gary Yamamoto Senko in watermelon with red flake.
  15. No idea the exact nutritional value of a largemouth but, as with most all fish, they are one of the healthiest foods you can eat. Bass do taste pretty good and come to think of it, I haven't eaten one in years. Maybe I'm due for a bite too. I'm interested in your recipes...
  16. Thanks guys. You've convinced me to buy it now. 8-)
  17. I want your opinion on what the best spinning reel is in my price range. I'm looking at the Pflueger president 6735x and it sounds like a good reel for the money. The Daiwa regal-xia 1500 also sounds nice... maybe even nicer than the pflueger.. What do you think?
  18. Slammed 'em! Massacred those bass! Caught the hell out of 'em! ;D
  19. Thanks Dink! I'll try the c-rigged lizards. The thing that sucks about shopping for tackle is I'm pretty much limited to wally worlds stock... all the good stores are a decent drive away. I'm excited though. There's smallies in this lake too and I've never caught one before so hopefully I can hook up with one. Keep the suggestions coming!
  20. txbass - that, I will do. Dock Master - The name of the 1330 acre lake is Devils Lake. Max depth is 63 ft with quite a few holes and drop offs all around. Fishing map guide claims the lake holds lots of big fish and plenty of bluegill, crappie, and perch. P. crispus and milfoil for fish cover. That's all I can really find out about it. HTH.
  21. I'm going to be fishing a local tournament next weekend on a lake I've never fished before. Actually, this'll be my first tournament so I was just wondering if you guys had any tips or advice that might help me out. I'm going to buy a few baits before hand and could also use some suggestions on what lures I should buy that will catch me fish come tourney day. Any input is welcome and appreciated!
  22. Since you've got no other replies I guess I'll chime in. I think the fish will probably be deeper. Try throwing spinnerbaits and jigs or t-rigged worms. Work them slow. Good luck.
  23. When I was a kid I learned to use baitcasting reels on an Abu Garcia 5500C3. We musky fished back in those days.... Where are you located? If your close by I have a 4600 C3 Abu you can borrow to practice with. Just take care of it.... I'm in Jackson. According to yahoo maps we're about 97 miles apart. That's a really nice gesture, thanks, but, I'm afraid 97 miles is a bit too far of a drive. Eh, I'll get around to buying/using one some day. No real rush. I do just fine with my spinning gear. May have to pick up a cheap combo this summer to try out though. Thanks for the replies guys.
