  1. Awesome. Thanks for the detailed post dsaavedra and thanks for the wire wheel tip fourbizz. Now I feel like I kind of know what I am doing.
  2. Cool. Thanks for the tips harshman.
  3. Thanks a lot man. This is the most helpful reply for me. I am not selling them and I don't care if they look super perfect but, everyone gave me the impression that I had to turn them. I like that drill idea with the swivel too. Thanks again.
  4. vertically, nose up? Wouldn't it then just run to the tail? I don't know... I've never done this.
  5. How do you turn a swimbait though without it flopping around and messing up the clear coat??
  6. Thanks for the reply. But, how exactly do I turn it by hand? And how do I not get epoxy in the eyelets?
  7. That is awesome. Very nice fish..and for him to do all that by himself... 8-) Good job teaching him the good things in life. Keep it up.
  8. What do you think? I need a new one but, it's not high on the priority list so it's gotta be kind of cheap, yet quality.
  9. Can I just brush it on and hang to dry with a fan on or do I absolutely need a drying/turning unit? I actually don't even know how one of those drying things work. Do they spin fast or slow? Well, I don't have one so how can I get a good finish with the d2t without one? Thin it a little?
  10. Will they work in 10+ft deep water? That depends on if the fish are there or not.
  11. You should be happy with the jitterbug. It will definately get hit during dusk hours.
  12. You guys down south are lucky. I can't imagine catchin' a 10 pound hawg! Someday... :
  13. Just got done photo finishing and painting. They both look really cool. I decided to go big and finish 2 at once. So..which one is my first swimbait then? lol :-? Tomorrow I will clear coat and take some pics of the finished products. I just hope they swim... :-/
  14. Oh, I forgot... Welcome to BR! You're gonna learn a lot here. Buzzbaits and frogs are great top water baits too.
  15. Why doesn't Rapala make any dark colors? Jeeze. The only thing I can see that is somewhat dark is the "Frog" color on the Skitter Pop. I'll check out the lure you suggested also. I don't know why they don't make a darker skitter pop but, the jitterbug is a must have. It's the best topwater bait IMO. Definately pick one up. You won't put it down.
  16. Anything dark. You want it to stick out against any light above the water.
  17. I recommend a black arbogast "jitterbug".
  18. I agree with suskydude. Although maybe you could keep some bluegill instead. It is work and "wild" fish are a lot "dirtier" than regular fish so yeah, you'd need a good filter or 2.
  19. See, told you this'd be fun! Keep em comin'!
  20. Hey MichiganFisherman, I've seen that technique done once (I've never personally done it) and yes, it did work. However, my fishing partner (MskSlyr) and I are lucky enough to know the state musky biologist for DNR here in Maryland. I found out that using the technique you suggested is very harmfull to a musky's (or pike) eyes. I would not advise using this technique, especially if you are going to release the fish. Good to know. Thanks!
  21. A drill can be rigged up to use as a drying wheel.
  22. Ok, it's starting to look like a lure now... I started another one today too. ;D
  23. Just thought it'd be fun to see what everyone caught their PB bass on. How big was it? Caught mine on a YUM wooly hawg tail, watermelon seed.
  24. My uncle taught me to hold them in their eye sockets with your thumb and middle finger. It calms them down and they won't thrash and you can then use some needle nose to free the hook. I don't know if this hurts them or not though. It doesn't seem to do any damage.
