becoming a pro angler

Featured Replies

Sounds simple but how can you become one. all advice is welcome.

Might want to watch and read each of the posts on Glenns interview with Gerald Swindle. Will give you some good info to digest. Glenn has other interviews here on the Forum that are good viewing as well and in many of them this subject is basically covered.

Well you can count me out.   ;D just kidding. Tournies Tournies Tournies.

I once readed An artical by Jimmy Housten about how to become a bass pro,And since I to want to one day be a bass pro I will pass on his main points,

1.Fish every lake, river, and pond you can, each one will teach you somthing diffrent.

2.Start out as a co-angler it's cheaper and you will get to see the life of a bass pro much clearer, if you start out as a pro then you find out this wasn't what you had in mind then you got problems :o

3. Go to collage.Bass fishing is becoming bigger in the sports world but you still want to have a job for a few years, you will notice that most pro rookies are in between 25-30  they had a job because you need to keep your family in mind.If you try to live just off your winnings you could find youself broke real fast,So go to collage get a job and save up for you start as a bass pro.

hope these points can help you on the way to becoming a bass pro and who knows we might fish against each other one day:) bye know

Here's some more:

Have a very wealthly family or very close friend that is

If married, go ahead and file for divorce

If a girlfriend tell her to take a hike before she tells you

Get a cat or small dog(You will need the company)

Be able to speak to groups(Using correct grammer)

Get your teeth fixed if they need it( They must be White)

Pay cash for a $50,000.00 bass boat(No one will give you one)

Pay cash for a motor home(You won't be able to make the payments)

Entry fees alone will run over $70,000.00 a year(The Elites)

Figure twice that for travel and lodging (A year)

I'll list more next week when I get back from my tournament. I'm fishing three hours from home and the gas alone is going to cost well over $200.00 for the tow truck and boat. This is just a monthly bass club tournament. It is one day only so I will not be spending the night.

If you are still interested and can live with my quotes and the others above, by all means jump in and you better be ready. Good Luck!

**********If you are not in shape, you better get yourself in shape. The rigors of fishing each day, driving all night, eating out of a sack, and no sleep will tear you down in a matter of weeks************
