Langill's DQ at Guntersville...

Featured Replies

We will never really "know" what the truth of the matter is or was. As was said, the truth always lies somewhere in between.

As for the marshals, I think I have an idea as to how their stories can be so different. On each day, they witnessed the same events. But after eight hours on the water, they described the events very differently. Why? Probably because for most of those eight hours, each pro was "selling" his side of the story to his marshal.

So, while they may have seen the same event objectively, by the end of the day all objectivity was gone, and they saw the events as the pros did, one thinking lines were crossed, one believing he did nothing wrong.

And I'm not saying that marshals are weak-minded and able to be easily manipulated, but if you're in Boyd's boat, a Classic champion, and he tells you how things should be, you're likely to see it his way. If you're in Langill's boat, you might see it his way.

Exactly.  And, the Marshals would beno more/less apt to report events any differently than , say.......a co-angler.

Mike- I was not giving the marshals themselves a failing grade. I think what has been said in the last three or four posts is fairly correct. I in no way meant to bash them. It was more of a bash to BASS. They created this program to help prevent problems like this or to make a decision more efficient and non-biased. I don't think it worked and I think it's on BASS' fault. I agree with 5BL, Duckett has changed his story a little and went out of his way on his blog to further his point after he "allegedly" said he wanted it to all go away. Goldbeck's account is a little more interesting but I would really like to hear all reports from those involved, not what BASS said they saw.

The only people that really know what happened are the CIA with their satellites.

But I doubt they will ever fess up so this will be a mystery for the ages.  ;)

"I'm not dogging the Marshals at all, I just don't understand how 4 Marshals can have differing accounts of the same happenings."

FBL,

I was in law enforcement for 25 years..... I hated having "eye witnesses" to interview after a crime. 20 eyewitnesses....20 different stories EVERY time....bizzare!!!!!  :o

ajr

Langill has a nice web site.

Go visit it.

Done very professionally.

With all of the stress of being a professional bass fisherman it is really wonderful that more guys don't blow up more often.

Remember when Ike lost it?

The passion to do well and the stress of fishing can get to you, just like in any profession where there is a lot of stress.

Kevin needs a vacation. :D :D :D

How about that Lowrance taken 2 kicks to the screen. Did you see that fish start ripping off line? That must have been a frickin monster.

Yeah, seeing him get worked up over that first big one that got away, I was real surprised he didn't get up and choke slam the camera man after that one.

Ike's passion and drive to win gets away from him at times but thats what I like about him.

LOL @ choke slam the camera man.   ;D

That boy better eat his Wheaties.  He might be 115lbs soaking wet with rocks in his pockets.

I read an article  by Boyd about the whole ordeal and saw wehre Langill has been DQ'd from all elite series events for the season. If half of what Boyd said was true, he more than deserves a season long ban. I get frustrated and ticked off as fast ( or faster) than the next guy, but Langill had plenty of time to cool off. This was definately more than just getting angry and reacting.

As for Iaconelli, we saw him at a gas station the saturday of the event and my daughter walked up to him and stood about 10 feet away and just stared at him. ( She doesn't follow fishing, she only knew he was an Elite guy cause I said he was). He was talking on his phone as he was filling up his boat. He kept looking at her out of the corner of his eye. He was probably wondering why this crazy girl was staring at him like he was a museum display piece.  Then when she got done with that and went in and out of the store, she crossed where his boat was hooked to his truck and was looking in his truck. I was a tad bit embarassed!
