my tournament jersey?? opinions please!!

Featured Replies

I will be fishign the BFL this year as a co-angler and want to make myself a tournament jersey... So what im going to do is use one of my worldwide sportsmans fishign shirts and have my last name embroidered on the rear and my full name on the front right, I also thought i would put a Bass Pro patch on the left side... i dont want to be to outragious because I have no sponsors, and dont want to appear to either...

this would look nice and you never know may pick something up along the way!!!!!!

I also will be wearing a strike king visor and strike king white sunglasses and some blue crocs!!!! :D

What are your opinions for what i would like to do?? :-?

If you have a company or 2 that you use exclusively, slap their logo on your shirt.  if you have some success and get your name/pics out there, you may be approached by the company.  This is how Spro/Gamakatsu sponsored me.  I wore their shirt and they contacted me.

Good luck man.  The BFL's are great.  Your gonna have a blast.

I find that what I wear helps me catch more fish... I am totally kidding, it doesn't matter what you wear, just wear something that is comfortable you will be standing for 8 or 9 hours.

I only have a couple of small sponsors, and they are on my tournament shirt, but my tournament shirt has never had anything to do with my fishing skills.  Some of my best finishes were days that I was wearing a ratty old t shirt and jeans.

I have a tourney shirt, which I do feel helps me fish better---before you laugh, let me explain.

When I was in college I learned a study trick to always study in the same spot in the same chair, etc and do nothing else in this "study" area except study.  So everytime I went to this area, I knew I was there only for the purpose of studying and that helped me get into that mindset.

I use this same philosophy for fishing.  I wear my tourney shirt only when I'm in a tournament.  Once, I put that shirt on, I'm able to get into that tournament mentality and focus.  As strange as it may sound, it really does get my mind "right" for tournament fishing.

I don't care how comfortable crocs are... they are hideous. Take those out of the equation and your good.

i have to agree, crocs are ugly...and orange????? what color is your shirt and pants? hope the shirt is orange or someything...

Well my visor is the stike king colors, blue and light blue, my jersey is a under armour long sleeve fishing shirt....the one thats the blue water digital camo, with everything one it, and I like the crocs (I got the blue color to match everything else) . They are really comfy for all day fishing...so yes everything matches.. 8-)

I have to agree loose the crocks, get a pair of tennis shoes or maby some flip flopps. But some comfertable running shoes would be my first choice. You will not look like a serious angler in a pair of Crocks

:-?

::)

My original point is, the fish do not care what you are wearing when you catch them.  Stylish clothing is just another thing you do not need to worry about as a beginning angler.  I won the Angler of the Year title in the MSTA tournament circuit and I wore crocs every tournament, by wearing crocs does that make me not serious?

My point is, that guys get to hung up on the little details that are not important when they are fishing tournaments.  Kevin VanDam is not good because he has matching clothes ;D

You might want to reconsider that World Wide Sportman shirt in favor of a Columbia.  The WWS shirts fade very quickly whereas the Columbia shirt will look good for a long time.

Myself, personally i wouldn't wear a company name, unless i was sponsored by them. I would just go with the bfl ,and name , on the shirt , and a flw hat . ive seen anglers black out mercury on the motors in some off those events. in other words, if you are wearing bps , and dicks is looking for someone, they may scan past you. or if strike king is looking for someone, why would they talk to you if you are already supporting them for free. ..just me personally, everyone has the right to do what they want.

I think Crocs scare fish. ;D ;D

LOL

This sounds like the "set up" for a Foxworthy "punch line":

Like the one about the husband getting fasion advice from his wife before heading out to the deer woods...

"Hey honey!  Does this Realtree shirt go with my boots? :D

Maybe this should have been posted in the ladies forum.

I don't know squat about fishing fashion.

Are you required to where a Jersey? can't you just wear a t-shirt?    8-)

:-?

Is this conversation really happening?

Wear crocs if you are comfortable with them.

I don't care what I wear on my feet as long as its protective...

Wear one of those t shirts that look like a tuxedo...

and black Crocs.

When the weather is nice enough I fish in my speedo

No opinions on the jersey.  But go ahead and rock the crocs.  I can't afford real crocs, so I got the 'cracs'... ;D

Too much info... :D

I love it when someone asks for an opinion. Bottom line you have to wear what will give you self esteem & confidence.

If you want to look like a real fisherman, wear a CAT hat, a white T-shirt with some tobaco dribble on it and a pair of jeans with a hole in the knee.

Keep the "tournament jersey" for Haloween.

It cracks me up when people get dressed up to fish.
