Winter coats and buzzbaits

I was able to fish with my little brother this weekend, we fought the wind, cold and rain. (actually only fished Saturday)   Anyway, it's a power plant lake so the fish didn't mind the cold or the cold front that just came through and we caught all of our fish on buzzbaits... my only regret was that my brother didn't catch the big fish of the day.  Sorry for the pic quality, we took a disposable since the weather was bad.  It went 7-1 on the digital scale.

Flechero,

Nice fish, good job! However, we need details man. What did you catch it on and what were the conditions. We are trying to get an education here for heaven's sake.  ;)

Yeah right ;D.  The ideal situation would have been your brother catches a 7-0 and then you catch a 7-1. ;)

Great catch!!!!

Thanks guys!  A fun weekend for sure, but came home with wind burn. ...lol

Details....  buzzbait, 3' of water with a "hydrilla like" grass matt on a main lake point, as soon as the blade cleared the matt she blew it up like a stick of TNT!  (and just for you, Alpster- 5C70HF exotic burl split grip, no forgrip, trimmed seat and Fuji Ti SiC, spiral wrapped.  not my usual topwater rod- my "buzzbait rod" was in my little brother's hands!)

KU,  Any one of my other brothers, for sure but with the youngest brother we aren't competitive like that... he's 14 years younger so it's a different dymamic.

topwater in coldwater,thats awesome ,congrats!!!!

hey flech,

Great fish there buddy!  Congratulations.

i've been using a buzzbait lately, just to try to locate some movement....  but, i haven't caught anything with it ..but, hey, you've proved that the Big 'uns will hit them, even when it's cold.

Nice Fish!!!!! I'm a firm believer that if you can with stand mother nature and her weather tantrums she'll reward you every once and a while.

Svvvveeeeeeeeeeeet--good job. Fives are good ones, sixes are better, sevens are, now we are talkin. A buzzbait hit just makes those big ones better.

I couldn't agree more!  It sounded like someone did a cannonball out of a tree!  It was violent.  :)  ...lol

That is a really nice catch.  That really got me wondering aout using a buzz bait on Sooner lake this weekend.  Its a power plant lake as well.

Great catch Flechero!

Up north here, we are living vicariously through you guys, keep it up!!
