Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 18, 2006 Super User Share Posted December 18, 2006 Ok, we finally got some decent weather here in PA and I was able to fish for a couple of hours on both Saturday and Sunday in some local ponds. I was trying out my new Accurist and I was determined to hook something this weekend. Saturday, I started out slow rolling a spinnerbait through whatever structure I could find, and managed to have one come up and slap at it...no hook up though. After throwing this for a while with no luck, I switched over to a LC Pointer. This is the first time I have ever seen one of these in the water and I must say that I was impressed with the action. At the end of the evening, I had a pickerel follow the pointer up to the bank, miss it three different times and then....BAM!!! He completely smashes the jerk. Needless to say, brought a smile to my face after going fishless for the last whole month. Sunday, I forced myself to slow down and fish a shakey head, 1/8th oz with a Zoom finesse worm (pumpkin/blue fleck). Lo and behold, I caught two green backs out of some laydowns. Another first for me as I had never fished shakies before. Once again, big smile at the end of the night. With colder weather in the forecast, this might be the last for a while. All you southern guys, keep hammerin' them. Wayne

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 21, 2006 Author Super User Share Posted December 21, 2006 Dang....Busted!! You're right. I would honestly have no clue as to the shakey head if BK42 would not have shown me. I think it may be the new weapon for us this year.... Craw
Great weekend! That shakey head rig will catch you a TON of bass in the upcoming year. The pointer is another incredible bait. You'll be amazed at how the fish hit those things sometimes. Get ready to be happy!

BadKarma42
Good deal, I think you'll like it. I think I am gonna change my set ups around to take better advantage of it. I'm gonna try and set up a "tackle station" in the back room in the basement this winter.
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 27, 2006 Author Super User Share Posted December 27, 2006 Cool, let me know. We should get a BPS trip together sometime. A couple other ideas....some of the guys from NE PA are looking into a Cabela's trip after the new year and also in January is the Maryland fishing Expo. I was thinking of taking Friday, 1/12/07 off and heading down for the day. Toby is still off work b/c of his elbow and I figured he would go.
