first time ice fishing (pics)

Featured Replies

finally got out and go fishing again. the fishing wasn't great but i got the skunk off for 2007

perch were hitting pretty good for a little while when we first got there, but it slowed down quick. sounds like almost everyone else didn't catch many at all. after they stoped hitting, i switched to a slip bobber and wrom for trout. put it down about 10' and i was in fish. got 5 to the ice and crackered one in the hole

so we ended up keeping 8 perch and 3 trout. perch were all about 9" (FAT!) and the trout were 12",13",and 14" (the ones i released were over 12" also  8-)).

Sweet photos! Those perch look ready to pop. Way to stick'em through that ice, great job!

Congrats! trout through the ice are a blast! We had a major cold front come in saturday night. Ice fishing was pretty slow yesterday. how much ice you got?

the lake has 15" of ice. i had to drive 2 hours to get to the lake, it is an alpine lake (sorta) on the east side of the cascade mountains WA. we don't get safe ice on the west side.

looks like it was fun...that is something i have always wanted to do.

Nice fish. We only get perch through the ice here, with an occasional walleye. It would be nice to get some trout through the ice.
