PB caught on spring break (pics)

Featured Replies

Went to clearwater Fl. with my wife for spring break and had a chance to fish a freshwater lake at her grandparents condo.  Most people were using live shiners and I caught a few doing so, but decided to throw a shakeyhead jig (spot remover) and a BPS floating worm on my new fenwick HMG spinning outfit and caught this beauty.  When I hooked her, I told some people on the docks that this was a good fish because she was really pulling drag.  When she came up and I saw that mouth, I went shin deep into the gater infested water to grab her up.  I told those people after I got her that I would have given a leg for this one.  The previous lake record there was 12.5 and a guy with a digital scale weighed her at 11.8.  Too bad they are already spawned out down there.  I was pretty pumped to say the least.

yeah, sorry guys but my fist fish over 10 lbs. is going on the wall.  I have thrown back some nice ones the past couple years including a 8.2 back in Indiana, but I told myself anything over 10 will be a wall hanger.

Great fish. Congratulations!

Great fish! Should make a beautiful mount! That kind of fish makes the vacation even better! :)

Where in Clearwater were you staying? Did you fish Lake Tarpon while you were visiting?

Oh, did you have it mounted here in Florida?

That's awesome! Bet you didn't expect a PB from a lake you don't know much about. It sounds like you caught her from shore, that must have been a rush!

Nice fish! How long was she? I'm not too far from Clearwater.

Very nice Fish! I saw something really weird on the second pic! Part of your right thumb/hand is missing!

I'm not saying that you didn't catch that fish but something is strange in that pic. You can get a larger view by clicking on the pic.

yeah, that is really weird, My wife and I saw that when we got them developed last night.  It must have been something to do with her digital camera.  I was looking at the actual picture and can see a fuzzy area around my hand where I might have been moving my hand during the pic. but who knows.

To answer the other questions, we did fish at lake tarpon a few days from anderson park with shiners.  We caught a few, with the biggest being around 4 pounds.
