10/01/07--Thanks Randall!

Featured Replies

Catching any Bass over 2/10 has eluded me for the last several weeks.  Fished 4 different ponds, a 600 acre lake, and a couple of hours on the Ocmulgee River over those weeks and nothing over a 2/10.

Went back to my former boss's walk-around pond this afternoon with Bluebird skies, clear water, temps in the mid-80s, and wind gusts up to 20 mph.  After about a half hour, I felt the thump of a bite on a bait Randall(Lake Varner guide) had shown to me a few weeks ago.  It's a 1/8 oz Shakey Head jig and a Zoom Trick Worm.  Now, I know most of ya'll have been using these for months if not years but they are new to me.

That thump was a 5 lb, 15 oz, 23" Bass.  Felt pretty darn good getting her to the bank with BPS's 8 lb fluro.

Sounds like a great fish, but the pics aren't working.  :-/

Yes FPB, I must have nicked a gill. :-[  Good eyes young man!  I held her still in the water and in a couple of seconds she torqued out of my hand and took off for the deeper water :).

Thanks for the kind words y'all.

Mo better dude

holy shnikes!! that fish is pleasantly plump for sure, with 8lb test what kind of fight was it like??

Nice fish Dan and it appears those fish feeders are paying off somewhat.  ;)  I should of thought about a shaky head this weekend as it was terribly slow.  Has your former boss ever considered stocking some small bluegill in the pond for forage?

Very nice fish Dan.........I need to find some like that one.....

we went out this evening.......caught 7, Joe 1.......3 keepers........15-16in.....nothing at all like that one! :(........but it was a blast......to catch 7 in 1 1/2 hrs........keeps me goin back for more.... ::)

PH:  I d/k about the feeder's effectiveness :-/.  I hope they are fattening up the forage fish and yes, he's added shad to both ponds.

ZG:  I was careful and didn't 'horse' her in.  She pulled pretty hard and came up out of the water twice, the second time right in front of me and the shoreline.

Thanks again for the positive comments :).
