The smallmouth seem inspired by the cold water. This is the very best

time of year in this region. The fish are big and strong. Yes, they do

pull hard and as a special treat, they also jump high! I would like to be

on the Tennessee River this weekend, but the weather has turned too

cold and we have 6" of snow on the ground.

Nice toads.  Some beautiful fish there.  You guys know how to get the smallies.

I love those big Bronzebacks ! Hope to be sticking some big ones myself in the next few days  :-)

Stay on em' !

Go fishing Tommorow (sunday) the snow has all melted and looking to be a decent day.  I have been to the river the past 3 weekends catching white bass from river heights down to coffee landing, have caught a few random smallmouth on grub's but none of any size, and I fished a suspending hard jerkbait for a couple hours with no luck either on the channel side of diamond island.

I have caught some nice smallmouth drifting the hump in front of Diamond Island and working the channel side about half way down. If you didn't fish for whities on the backside, you passed the sweetest hole on the river! Surprisingly, you sometimes have to move around before finding exactly the right spot, but once you do, anchor down and you will catch a white bass or at least get bitten on every cast!

I fished on the backside for a few good minutes, but those people like to get out there and drag crawfish all day which I just don't get into.  I never anchor, always fish artificial's...I just dont feel right doing anything else.  I have my spot's up and down the river tho that produce huge numbers all day long that gets passed up by 98% of white bass anglers.
