Smallie trips from Saturday and Yesterday

Featured Replies

Not much of a story teller like some of ya'll but I've had some great fishing these past two days. Saturday was a monster of a day. Ended up going through a whole pack of GYCB 5" Grubs and some *** Lake Fork Craws. Ended up with 40+. This after Denea had a 30+ day a couple weeks before. There killin everything down here! Was so ridiculous that I just stopped breaking out the camera.

Here are some of the pics from Saturday. They were hitting everywhere in the water column. No real pattern to speak of. The grubs and craws were rigged on a 2/0 EWG weightless. Swam them and twitched em.

Don't usually like putting them on the ground/rocks but wanted some different shots.

Here are some of yesterdays fish. 17 total in (3) hours. Slower than Saturday but still a nice chunk of bass. Caught on Berkley Chigger Craws with a 1/8 Tru-Tungsten bullet weight and GYCB skirted double tail grubs weightless.

There was a massive storm that rolled through about a half hour before I started baggin them. Denea was supposed to show up but I think he fell asleep. That sucks. ;D Kidding man!

One thing that stunk during yesterdays trip? I lost two tru-tungsten sinkers on snags. Paying 4 bucks for three sinkers......they sure are worth it with feeling the bottom and detecting rock structure, but man losing them hurts.  :'(

Sorry for the size of the pics guys. For some reason they didn't save after my re-size. I'll fix em when I get a chance. I know how annoying side-scrolling is.

Thanks G-man.

Thank you.

RW when do the smallies run down there?

Late October until the middle of March for the most part. We still catch them occasionally on the lakes, but the Tennessee River is too hot. I think "my fish" move to deeper, cooler water downstream into Kentucky Lake.

Hey now  punish%5B1%5D.gif  Just wait, only a couple more weeks of me working Grave and we'll see.  Starting in July (for 3 months) I will be working 4 - Noon, so then it'll be time for some fishing.  And now a dry socket and infection on the wisdom tooth just pulled doesn't help (and no I wasn't smoking, I'm smarter than that)

Just watch your back when your heading to one of my holes nhl_checking.gif and if you try to get up... stay away from the slippery slate and creek bank nhl_crach%5B1%5D.gif

Nice fish by the way  ;)

Great fish, but a hideous hat.  ;)

Sounds like you guys are on them.

Kind of hard not to be, to be honest. They are everywhere. Behind rocks, in fast current, slow current, no current, by ledges and dropoffs. 1ft of water.......up to who knows how deep some of the holes are. Open water with sand bottoms....gravel bottoms.....you get the point.  There is just no pattern to speak of. Cast and reel in....been crazy!

Man, don't you hate it when that happens?

Horrible!!!!  :'(     ;D

I know with this temps increasing and the water level dropping that there going to be heading to deeper pools at some point. Maybe even head back down the creek altogther back towards Erie. Who knows though......we were catching them on crawlers through August last year. The numbers were not there however.

Hey!

Haven't we discussed this on another thread?

Forget about numbers, fish for pigs!
