Featured Replies

Hey guys I am having a real bad problem with costa....

I bought a pair of their 580 green lenses sunglasses and less then a week after i bought them i saw a small crack in the top inside corner of the left lens... The crack was on the inside and i had not dropped the glasses even once... I sent them off after 7 weeks they said that they would have to charge me 100 bucks to get them fixed since i broke them.. anyways i got them down to 49 plus 10 for shipping.. whatever..

SOOOOO got them back on sat.. wore them fishing all day sat .. they layed in their case on sunday then on monday wore them while driving my truck... by the end of the day the same small crack on the inside corner now on the right lens appeared... I called costa very upset and they said to send them in and they will see...but it sounds like i am too rough on their sunglasses...

more on this story is that i called to check on them after 4 weeks the first time i shipped them off ( i shipped them off through my retailer) The woman was very rude.. and told me I sound like the kinda guy that wants something for free..... NOW IM VERY upset .. I told her nope im the kinda guy that spends 249.00 bucks on a pair of sunglasses and expects for the company to at least be nice and not let 4 weeks go without so much as any contact to the customer or reseller. All I wanted was to find out about my glasses......haha non the less she told me it was my fault that it was taking so long to repair my glasses since i went through my reseller... MY FAULT she said.. she said if i had sent them in through the internet service they provide ..things would go much faster.. ANYWAY.. I asked to speak to her manager.. I got a call back a few hours later. i told this same story to her manager and she said that she did not believe me and that its not her fault i dont know how business is done in this world... i then told her to send my glasses back and ill pay for repairs and never buy costas again... she said great .. and I quote... " we don't want or need your business and ill make sure i remark your acct so that we never help you again"

I went to my reseller and the best he could do was offer me a pair of MJ for half off... thats great and i may take him up on it .. but in the mean time im just ticked off ive spent 250 plus 60 for repairs and have worn these glasses about 7 times total... and they are going back in the mail tomorrow...

ANY IDEAS OR REMARKS ARE NEEDED... IF ANYONE HAS A CONTACT AT COSTA DEL MAR PLEASE HELP ME OUT..

ALSO IF ANYONE HAS HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THEM AND KNOWS THE BEST ROUTE TO GET SOME HELP THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS!

Sorry about your problem. If you want them to make it right , you are probably going to have to go higher then that manager that was so d**n rude to you. You need to go up their ladder until you find someone that cares about their quality and reputation.

Oh by the way.................WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel your pain. Costa Del Mars customer service is TERRIBLE.

I had a pair of the brines and I accidentally popped a lens out and couldn't find it. I sent them in and paid about 60$ to have the lens replaced. Well about 3 months later the same lens comes out with no pressure or contact. I was ticked, sent them in and Costa calls me about a month later and says it will be 100$. They said that the frame had heat damage probably from keeping them on the dashboard. Problem is I drive a jeep and have never done that... >:|

By this time I had already purchased a second pair of Costas from Ebay the Triple tails. Well that pair has held up nicely for almost 2 years, but the first is still sitting in my room with 1 lense and was only in service for about 8 months.

It is really a shame because the glasses are great, sharp, great lenses, polarized lenses work good. But I'm not sure whether I would buy another pair, I would probably look into some other brands first.

A company has to learn customer service is IMPORTANT. And I'm not complaining about price of repairs but the overall lack of communication, speed, and respect that I experienced.

Man I'm sorry to hear of those kind of problems. I have never had anything but good luck dealing with them. Keep us updated on this.

You should always complete a repair form on the internet when you ship your glasses in for warranty or repair work. This helps track the work. If they are prescription glasses they cannot be shiped to Florida. For some strange reason the state will not allow them to repair and they must be returned to the local dealer. Sorry I ment to post this with my original.

That sucks.  I am considering another pair too.  I might take longer to consider after reading this.

I would definately record ant further phone calls that way when you do get to talk to someone higher up the ladder you can show them how ignorant there employees are.

HEAT DAMAGE!!! from being on the dash? that is rediculous. they are $200.00 glasses. I have 2.99 convenience store glasses that i leave on the dash and dont get heat damage.

Thanks for posting this.

I have considered their glasses in the past. However with customer service  like that I will probably go with someone else

Whoa!

Let's solve the problem first...

Resend the glasses with a polite, business letter

explaining the problem. Address the letter to the

Marketing Director or whomever you are instructed

to at the company. Follow-up in a week and remain

calm. If they are not going to fix or replace the

glasses, ask for the President or send him an e-mail

summarizing what has taken place and attach a copy of your

inital business letter. The chances of this getting resolved

are very high.

However, as you have already discovered, getting mad,

personal or threatening is a dead-end approach. That might

make you feel better, but it isn't going to get your glasses

replaced.

I have dealt with their Customer Service on three different occasions. I have a pair of the filament and I love them. They are frame-less glasses and after a while will develop stress fractures around the nose piece. I have gone through their internet warranty service and have they have fixed the problem with a new pair all three times. I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck.

It is sad that it had to come to this but after talking to several people with CDM that make money from their products selling good and KEEP selling good.. well they are VERY nice and want me to be happy... SO ill let you all know how this pans out... I would only say to anyone that is having this problem to go around the customer service dept and go striaght to a rep or someone that really cares and is not paid by the hour...

Well that is refreshing to hear.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have had terrible experience with Costa. I am now waiting for my glasses to come back from warranty repair for the 4th or 5th time in only about two years. Hinges have corroded, lenses fallen out, paint peeled, and the polarization wears off faster than even cheap glasses I own.

Their online area to check about the repair is useless as it has almost always said they were being evealuted or repaired. I called again today and they said they shipped yesterday but online it still says they are being repaired. The woman answering the phones was adament that I should have gotten an email stating they were shipped and I must not know how to check email or spam folder. When I asked why the website was not updated she had no clue so I had to explain that if the repair status doesn,t up date then maybe just maybe their email isn't working properly either.

I will never buy Costas again. Ocean Waves are the only thing for me in the future. I am hard on glasses and they are often soaked with Salt spray but they are made for use on the water aren't they?

I had my last pair of Ocean Waves for just under 8 years and was amazed they held up so well, so far I have not had Costas go 8 months without needing repair.

One time when I sent them in they said I had to pay extra because they were broken in shipping, When I asked why they didn't mention the smashed packaging to UPS at the time they said they did not notice it.  I told them they were full of it and to send me pictures and information. The lens was smashed and the box destroyed but nothing wrong with the frames. This they did not notice and wanted to charge me for. Once I started telling them I would get UPS involved they backed of quickly and finally sent them back.
