Well, I hate to admit it, but my ponds are dead. I can't buy a bite.

Over the past several weeks I have only had five bites and caught

four bass. No bites in the last sixteen "fishing hours". I won't throw

in the towel, but this cold weather has me stumped.

At least you have a chance!!!

If I went fishing I'd just catch snow and ice.

The only thing I can say about the fishing right now, in my neck of the woods is: It's sure easy to skip a bait. :D

It's also a good time to work on your topwater technique!!!

I reached the same point a few weeks ago. I've only been out since then to try a new reel and some baits. I think Lots of my water is starting to freeze if it hasn't already.

I'm just going to wait until it warms up. Call me a quitter, but at least I'm a quitter with a warm ***.

Glad I am not the only one. I am having a really tough time. I hope today will be better with a light wind out of the south and and high around 70*     8-)

I have been out three times this year and have 1 2lber for my efforts. >:(

I think you should get a 4/0 EWG and put a senko on it.  If that doesn't work, try an IKA.  If there are fish in there, they will eat it.  ;D

Sorry to here it RW, you know what they say.  A bad day of fishing is better than..........

Hope ya find 'em!

I have never skipped a bait so well lately, though the bites are really slow.

One of my fall back techniques is to throw a 4" zoom meathead (watermelon) on a small split shot rig. Sometimes that will out fish my standard shakey-head and drop shot cold water techniques. Hope you lay them out.

Don't sweat it Kent.  It's been brutally tough for me.  We started the year great, now I've blanked my last 2 trips   :-?

Not sure what's going on, but the fish have lock-jaw

Not having that problem but of course I am sitting on a bucket jigging in  an 8 inch hole. Give that a try but dress warm.

It's tough here too.  I haven't caught a fish in about 3 weeks.  The last bass I caught was on a 4" Tru-life swimbait, the next cast I hung a rock and lost the bait.  Haven't had a bite since.

i know the feeling, i have been out almost every weekend and i have not caught a bass, dink or otherwise since november 16th

What baits and techniques have you been fishing?

Generally, I only fish one or at the most, two lure classes on

any outing (1 1/2 - 2 hours). The last three bass I caught were

on a Karu VibraSpin. Otherwise, I fish minnow imitations (Mattlures

Shad, spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Trap type lures) or jigs (crayfish

imitations). My latest attempts have been Shak-E2 with various

soft plastics.

The problem, or at least my theory, is that the bass are suspending

deep and only come to within casting distance on rare occasion to

feed. If that's the case, timing is everything.

I haven't been on the water since early December so I've forgot how to fish...but about five years ago I couldn't buy a fish in January so I learned how to drop-shot....4 inch worms put fish in the boat when nothing else would. That has worked every winter since then. May be worth a shot, who knows?

I have never had that problem because the ponds I fish are pretty small, that's a tough one though :-?

Have you tried dynamite?  That usually works.    ;)
