A fun day of fishing turned bad

Recommended Posts

Ok so im fishing this golfcourse pond with a mattlures bluegill swimbait. I hook a 15lb channel cat! It rips my mattlures but no biggy ill supperglue it when i get home and tie on another swimbait. I put on a 6 inch stiper bait with a 3/8 ounce jig head i throw that for a while and then hook a bass atleast 6 lbs!! what a fun day. I start making my way around the pond when I see a car drive up and someone get up walks to the pond and throws somthing in the pond then I stop paying attention to him and start fishing again then I look over and he has my tackle box and my ultralight that I had left over there for just a few minuets and he hops into his car with my tacklebox and my ultralight! My only real swimbait my mattlures was in that box.  >:( :'(

I had an awsome day of fishing and I was loving throwing that swimbait and then that idiot ruins my whole day. Oh and incase your wondering how he drove up and I was fishing on the golf course it because only a small portion of the pond touches the golfcourse and I had walked there so my stuff was kinda close to the road(Not like right on the road you would actualy have to walk down there to see it like he did) Im only 16 and I pay for my fishing stuff by cleaning the kitchen and the house and mowing(im getting a real job soon so more fishing stuff!) so know I have to save up for a new ultralight before I can buy some new swimbaits

You need to be positive that you allowed to fish there not "pretty sure."  I would check into it before I ever fished there again, or make sure I have all of my fishing gear right by my side.

Whether he can or can't be fishing the pond is not an excuse for someone stealing his gear.  That's not how things should be handled.  If it was the owner that came along, he could have been asked to leave.  Stealing is stealing.  Sorry about your gear man.

I agree, that clowns actions aren't justifiyed, I was asking because if were a private golf course, coulda been one of those crazed members..(note: not all people that belong to golf clubs are crazed) who thought they had a right to toss his gear, they should have just asked him to leave IF that's the case.

Well, here in so.cali, you cannot fish at any golf course, even the public tracks...I golfed for a few yrs, and saw some nice ponds, and just drooled...I do know guys that sneak onto courses to catch bass, I never have.

Thanks for the responses everybody. This pond that I was fishing at was hardly on the golf course at all and someone drove in from the neighborhood and not the golf course so that why i think that it was not any angry person who works at the golf course. I'M just glad I wasn't fishing with my cheap ultralight and had my swimbait/flipping and pitching combo stole. I would have freaked out lol.

I absolutley agree.

I only carry one rod at a time and the tackle I need in a fanny pack or my pocket, everything else stays locked in the car.

I've been a golf course member and I have never seen a fellow member do anything like that, they may steal your driver,j/k, but not a tackle box and a rod.

Sorry to hear that. Ive had my stuff stolen before and it was the worst feeling ever. Its a good thing I never found out who did it, and believe me I looked for the person, otherwise I probably would be in prison.

Chalk it up to experience and forget about it otherwise it will eat at you and tick you off for a long time. Karma will come back to that person 10 times worse than what he did to you.

I feel your pain bud! I was steelhead fishing in Northern Idaho and someone stole all my tackle, rods and my wife's new digital camera while I was sleeping in the truck not 10 feet away! It was night time and didn't hear a thing! Thieves are the most worthless beings on this planet and I hope they all have karma bite them in the rear 10 fold!!! Hope you recover from the loss and learn to not be a victim again... protect your belongings.

Very well said. I think the guy could have had a kind word with him if he had a problem with him fishing there. I think the way he handled the situation was very inappropriate. If he did that to either one of my girls I can assure you that the words I would have with the guy for taking my girls things would not have been very kind and I would be following that up with a good slap upside the head with my rod. I think that this guy is a thief and a bully. >:(

The two things that you should never mess with is a moms kids or her fishing gear. >:( >:(

I hope that you get your things back.

The local golf course here has some nice ponds on it. Ive heard people telling me there are some HUGE fish in there. I wanted to sneak on at night to catch some but decided to try and do it the right way.

I went to the pro shop and asked to talk to who ever was in charge. I asked them if I could get permission to fish there. In order to fish the ponds, you have to become a member at a fee of $1000 a year. And on top of that, the pond is only open to fishing for members on Fathers day.Basically, what the lady said is theres no way of fishing the ponds unless your rich, stupid and really really want to fish those ponds.

I talked to a friend who golfs there and he says the lady was feeding me Bull.He says theres absolutely NO fishing on the pond. They treat the grass with all sorts of chemicals which leech into the ground and eventually get washed into the pond with the rainwater. The golf course management fears that someone will keep a fish to eat and end up getting ill ,or worse. Obviously a big liability issue there. Keep this in mind if you ever decide to fish a golf course pond and why it may be off limits.

As far as the stolen gear,I feel for ya. I had a bunch of tackle in a Backpack in the back of my truck and some Tweaker came and took it,then broke into my truck and stole my CD book with over 150 CD's.

The worst part of this deal is having your stuff taken from you in broad daylight right in front of your face. Did you get a description of the truck? Id be searching for it.
